Hi,
I already installed MediaWIki on Ubuntu and Windows some times and now I
would like to install it on SuSE 10.0.
The installation finishes without any problems, but there seems to be a
problem with namespaces or whatever, at least I cannot use several links
e.g. to log in, view special pages etc., because the link misses the
required prefix (e.g. Special).
The link looks like:
.../wiki/index.php?title=:Userlogin&returnto=Hauptseite
I used the same archive installing on Ubuntu and there is no problem at
all. Does anyone know how to make the wiki up and running?
Thanks and best regards kc
I'm constantly editing my wiki, and it's a bit frustrating how
articles have to be newly changed to reflect any changes I've made to
how they're parsed; and it also seems that if I change anything in
Messages.php, the old data gets referenced. Is there an easy way to
get around these problems? Thanks.
Hi!
I'm currently having problems with all of my wiki installations. A few days
ago they all worked perfectly. I'm hosted at http://project62.com (shared
hosting) and the server software just was updated recently. The wikis were
working alright after the updates, though, as far as I know.
Anyway, if you visit one of the wikis of http://jesus-wiki.org, you'll
notice that all existing normal wiki pages just go white. Non-existing pages
and special pages load without any problems (the non-existing pages just
saying that they currently don't have any text). A friend of mine says he
got these error messages:
"Zero Sized Reply"
"Squid did not receive any data for this request."
I have no idea, what the problem is. I even tried reinstalling the wikis.
That worked fine.
Could you please help me?
Thank you!
GBY! Denise
I'm using $wgEmailConfirmToEdit and also the hack which makes e-mails
required. I want to make it so that a user can't login if their e-
mail isn't confirmed. I added the following code:
if ($wgUser->isEmailConfirmed()) {
echo "confirmed"; return;
} else {
echo "not confirmed"; return;
}
right before:
# We've verified now, update the real record
in SpecialUserLogin.php in the processlogin function. I've tried with
different accounts, some confirmed, others not, and it always returns
"not confirmed." Should I be going about this another way?
Thanks!
Hi,
i change my hosting server and i try to import with utf8 and latin1 the
mysql db but the problem is still happening, the images that have accents
like Introdución or the links to another articles inside the wiki dissapear,
all appear in red link and dont go to the article, the name is correct in
the title but isnt inside.
Sincerally, Mafius.
And no, I don't know how to do the SSH crap stuff either sigh, the only thing I've managed to do was, get access into where my directories are.. via the PUTTY thing..
And tried doing a line command, for placing the folders/files into my wiki.domain.net sub directory, but it installs/places the files into another folder called "phrase3".. which doesn't help me for a dang.. sigh..
I use Tortoise SVN to download files to the computer, which with my crap dialup connections.. takes forever sigh. Then, while being subscribed to the CVS list.. I know which files were lastly commited.. redownload the trunk/phrase3 files to computer again (each blasted time).. and then move ONLY the changed files to another folder.. special for those.. and then manually upload ONLY those "fixed" files..
I'm at a loss on that SSH crap stuff too.. so, I don't know what else to do then, but manually upload everything via an FTP client.. =(

Er, I don't know what happened, but I had absolutely nothing to do with it...

My apologizes then Rob, I'm not sure who all the "uppy ups" are around here.. I'm just cranky, because I've uploaded and installed this alpha prick, about 6 times today probably, trying to see if maybe I had done something wrong with it, and it wasn't my fault.. it's how it was "out of the box."
And with me on crap dialup connections, that 6 times of uploading and installing, would make anyone cranky.. =P (Please note: I can't afford anything else (cable/dsl) better at the moment, but if someone's willing to chip in and get me something better, I'd be a happy camper!) =P Nah, just kidding..
Anyway, sorry Rob, I wasn't sure "who" was doing what on the list, as moderating it, or what had happened with my email. But, it sure would be nice to get that kink out of there lol.. I've been sitting here for hours, trying to figure it out myself.. but I'm not a .htaccess/rewrite/PHP coder professional yet sigh..
Anyway.. I might just go back to the 1.8.2.. at least the stuff was working then lol. ;) :)

Hello everyone, I'm new to the list. I'd really like to become part of the MediaWiki Community, by testing the 1.9alpha, learning the in's and out's, with MediaWiki itself. ;) :)
The reason for this email is, I'd like a few questions answered, so.. to start with, I was wondering, what would be the easiest and best way to upgrade from 1.8.2 => 1.9alpha?
I'm *not* familiar with the SSH, line commands stuff.. I'm used to downloading the latest trunk files using TortoiseSVN 1.4.1, and then manually uploading (only the latest svn commits) to the FTP directory for my wiki..
However, in this case.. I uploaded all the 1.8.2 files, and installed it just fine. But, I'd like to upgrade it to 1.9alpha now. I like being on the "bleeding edge" .. ;) :)
I've read some of the directions on the MediaWiki wiki, but, some things seem to be confusing me. Should I first rename the LocalSettings.php file to LocalSettings.php.old, then do the same with some other files, which were customized?
Then, upload all the trunk files for 1.9alpha, "install" it again.. like I did with 1.8.2? I already subscribed to the CVS list, so I'll start getting the latest CVS commits.. and know which files were lastly "fixed/modified" so I can stay on top of the game...
Which leads to another question, everytime a "new cvs" file comes through the list.. Does this mean the whole MediaWiki itself will need updated? Or, is there only a select few files which requires this?
Also, in the AdminSettings.php file, this code here is a little confusing..
*Developers: Do not check AdminSettings.php into Subversion
*
* @package MediaWiki
*/
/*
* This data is used by all database maintenance scripts
* (see directory maintenance/). The SQL user MUST BE
* MANUALLY CREATED or set to an existing user with
* necessary permissions.
*
* This is not to be confused with sysop accounts for the
* wiki.
*/
$wgDBadminuser = 'wikiadmin';
$wgDBadminpassword = 'adminpass';
Is that Admin and Pass supposed to be the "main one(s)" which was used on the installation? Which can be found in the LocalSettings.php file correct? Sorry for all these questions.. just wanted to know for sure, before doing to much more with my wiki.. ;) :)

Running v1.8.2.
If my wiki is set up to open external links in a new window (which I
basically want to keep in place), is there a way to have external
links *not* open in a new window on a case-by-case basis?
Thanks. Tim
