Installation issue: 'http://localhost/wiki/index.php/Main_Page"

Hi guys, Apologies in advanced if this is a retardo question ;-) I just installed MySQL, PHP and the MediaWiki software. It's running under IIS on Windows XP Pro. When I first visited http://localhost/wiki, it sent me to the initial configuration screen, which seemed to go well. It told me everything it was doing, and indicated that configuration had gone successfully. Finally, it pointed me back to http://localhost/wiki/index.php. When I went there, I got a browser page back from IIS saying that it couldn't find .../Main_Page. Any idea what's going on? I'm assuming that the configuration process should have somehow autogenerated this file, but I can't find any reference to this issue on the web or specifically in any of the MediaWiki help/installation/configuration sections. imagemagic on windows

Hi I am running a mediawiki in a company. It runs on a win 2003 server and is running very well besides imagemagic. I am not able to install imagemagic on the sever. Who have experience with this configuration. Thanks for any help bernie

editing font and window width

at present time, when editing, the font size is not the same as the final view one. this makes it very difficult to proof read the text. When you see a typo on the normal window, finding it on the editing one is hard. I know there are some text in the editing window that don't show in the final one, but should it be possible to insert in the editing window a -say- red mark to visualize the end of the final line? breaking lines should also be nice (it don't import is the editing lines are not of the same lenght) - at least at preview time? not to go as far as wisiwyg editing thanks jdd -- pour m'écrire, aller sur: http://www.dodin.net http://valerie.dodin.net http://arvamip.free.fr

space at end of line

When one type a space at the end of the editor line, this space is not writen (at least not visible). Suggestions on site organization?

I would like some opinions and maybe suggestions on site organization. My site is giong to have several main sections: *Tutorials *Tech guides *Company listings *Part listings and information I want to know if I should use separate namespaces, or just leave everything in the main namespace. Currently I have things setup using pages, and subpages such as: *Tuturials *Tutorials/tutorial1 *Turorials/turorial2 *... *Part Type 1 *Part Type 1/listing1 *Part Type 1/listing2 *... *Part Type 2 *Part Type 2/listing1 *Part Type 2/listing2 *... However, I found it beneficial to make the companies as separate categories in order to generate related images and a clean index page: [[Category:Companies]] *[[Category:Company 1]] *[[Category:Company 2]] *[[Category:...]] Should I use separate namespaces such as: Company: Tutorial: Parts: Etc... ? What advantages/disadvantages would this have? Comments/feedback would be appreciated. Wiki is at: http:www.350z-tech.com/wiki

There may be a solution out there. The forum is still in alpha, and I have just started playing with it. I found this info on their mailing list, they also have some more info that is available from links within the message. Recent Changes page

Greetings, I am using mediawiki (ver 1.4.4). I notice that the Special:Recentchanges page is not listing all the changes made so far. How Can I solve this problem? I changed number of days and number of records and still the first change recorded as made at Aug 22. The revision page history for each page show the correct changes made. Upload Problem

Hi, I have troubles uploading files. Every time I try to upload a file, my browser sends the file and then i get a "The file you uploaded seems to be empty. This might be due to a typo in the file name. Please check whether you really want to upload this file" message. My configuration is: MediaWiki: 1.5rc4 PHP: 4.4.0 (apache2handler) MySQL: 4.0.24 Linux media 2.6.12-gentoo-r6 I already tried everything on http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Uploading_files file_uploads On upload_max_filesize 2M post_max_size 8M Thanks in advance Robert Klausner

Any suggestions for pasting an Excel spreadsheet into mediawiki?

Any suggestions for the easiest or best way to get the information from an Excel spreadsheet into mediawiki, so that the information can be easily updated? The user doesn't need any calculations or special formatting; if the data appears as a table with cell entries which can be edited easily, that would be fine.
