20th birthday! Yay. As part of this event Wikimedia South Africa will be
presenting on Wikipedia in South Africa to the Cape Town Press Club. Please

*This January, Wikipedia turned 20 years old. It has been an extraordinary
achievement with daily page views running in the billions. Millions of
people use it, but also millions of people volunteer their time to edit and
update it.One of these people is Douglas Scott, who has been an editor on
English language Wikipedia since 2006. Douglas has been a Wikipedia
community leader since 2012. He is currently a board member of Wikimedia
South Africa and was the chapter's president from 2015 to 2020. Wikimedia
South Africa is the non-profit membership organisation for Wikipedia
editors in the country. He will be talking about the challenges Wikipedia
and other internet based free knowledge projects face within South Africa
in the next 20 years. He will be speaking on behalf of Wikimedia South
Africa."*
