As a member of the scholarship committee, please think carefully about how you sell yourself.

Every year there are many more qualified applications than we have scholarships to give, so it's crucial that you put yourself in the mind of someone who has no idea who you are when you explain what you have done for the movement, and how you intend to use Wikimania to help strengthen your local free knowledge community.

Wikimania is an annual Wikimedia/Wikipedia conference organised by both the Wikimedia Foundation and local Wikipedia editors. This year's event will take place in Montréal, Quebec, Canada from Aug 9-13, 2017.

Everyone on this mailing list is invited to apply. We typically do not get enough scholarship applicants from Southern African countries so if you are interested in attending then please do apply.

It is a great event that I always try to make a point of attending and always enjoy meeting new people at. Especially folks from southern Africa.
