Hello everyone,
Thank you to everyone who attended the Cape Town meetup and scavenger hunt today https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Meetup/Cape_Town/Cape_Town_6. I think it went well and I am looking forward to organising another one in Cape Town.
*Future WLM events in Sept* On that note I want to announce that we will be having another Wiki Loves Monuments scavenger hunt in Cape Town CBD on the evening of the 20th September (Saturday) and another one during the day on the 27th September in Franschhoek.
I will keep you all posted on the details but I want to have the 20th Sept scavenger hunt in the V&A Waterfront area of Cape Town. Please RSVP with be before hand.
I have also attached a list of activities that Heritage Western Cape is organising during this month. Please feel free to attend any of the events as I am sure they will present some great opportunities to take some great pictures of monuments.
I would like to know if anyone else would be interested in organising something for Wiki Loves Monuments some time this month? It would be nice to have a few event take place outside of the Western Cape.
*Open Book Festival* I also want to invite Wikipedians to join us for the Open Book edit-a-thon https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Open_Book_Festival_Edit-a-Thon_2014 that will be part of the Open Book Festaval. It will be a short 1 hour long event that will take place on Saturday the 20th September at 8pm.
We will be editing articles on South Africa authors and we have organised a small group of university students to help with the editing but we need some more experienced editors as well.
There is a list of 10 authors that we really want to create before or on the day. I have attached the list of them with a list of references for anyone that is interested. We will need to create a number of new articles on South Africa authors and move them to main space during the edit-a-thon.
All the best,
HI Douglas,
All exciting stuff and well done for organising it all!! Please can you copy and paste the Heritage Western Cape information or send us all a link as it didn't come through to the list (perhaps there is a rule against attachments?).
I hope to make the next meet up. Or the Open Book one. Both sound great.

I think attachments of certain sizes are automatically stripped off. Otherwise, it doesn't come through at all. If the list can be put somewhere online and the link shared?

Hi Isla and Rexford,
Thanks for letting me know. It took me a while to find it but here is a link to the Heritage Western Cape 2014 heritage month events calendar http://www.westerncape.gov.za/assets/departments/cultural-affairs-sport/heritage_month_events_calendar_-_last_updated_1_september_2014.pdf. As for the list of South African authors we want to do articles about, below is a list of their ten names.
You can also find this list on meta at the Open Book edit-a-thon page here https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Open_Book_Festival_Edit-a-Thon_2014.
