This is just to let people know of a few quick updates.
==Wikimania scholarships now open== The most important one being that scholarship applications to attend Wikimania 2024 in Poland are now open. The deadline to apply is 18 December 2023 so get those applications in soon.

== Special Cape Town meetup reminder for next week Monday== Maryana Iskanda, CEO of Wikimedia Foundation, and Christian Humborg, Executive Directors of Wikimedia Germany, are in Cape Town for a flying visit. They would like to meet with the Wikimedians of the Cape (or any other visiting Wikimedians) on Monday, 11th December 2023.
Wiki In Africa and Wikimedia South Africa have planned the following for the meetup.

==Wiki Loves Science== Wiki Loves Science has started. The science photo competition for Wikipedia. Please spread the word to anyone you might know in the scientific community. We have some modest prizes to encourage people to upload science and research related photographs and other media for use on Wikipedia.

==Wikipedia birthday== Wikipedia will be celebrating its 23rd birthday on 15 January 2024. Like this year we will be hosting a bigger than normal birthday Wiki meetup event, with cake, on 27 January 2024 to celebrate. This will be the first meetup event of the year and will be held in both Cape Town, Johanensburg and digitally online. Sadly there will be no cake for those of us, like myself, who will be attending online but it will still be a great opportunity to meet everyone, see how the other meetups are going, and chat about Wiki stuff.
Details on this event will be sent out later in the month.
