Dear Shupai,
I hope this email finds you well.
After a quiet period since the 2022 launch of AfroCreatives WikiProject (ACWP), The Africa Narrative (TAN) is gearing up for a busy 2024 with the roll-out of a series of initiatives as well as a robust buildout of the ACWP activities. First up on the calendar of 2024 Edit-a-thons https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/AfroCreatives_WikiProject is a pan-African campaign in partnership with FESPACO, Africa’s largest film festival.
To enable us to drive campaign activities at the local level across Africa, we would love to partner Wikimedia ZA as a local organizer. As a local organizer, you are eligible to apply for a rapid grant to organize local events if you’re in good standing with the Wikimedia foundation. If you have an APG and can make provision from it, that is also a good option.
The campaign will run from 18th May to 1st June 2024, though training activities start on 3rd May 2023. If you intend to apply for a rapid grant, you have to target cycle 5 and apply before the 1st April, 2024 deadline.
If you’re interested, please reply to this email to confirm your participation.
