I could not agree more, the laws around copy right in South Africa are very ambiguous and problematic. Some one with some legal experience to help us navigate through it would be a great help.

David,
There is a need for legal council on copyright matters and political intervention to amend the Copyright Act in order to remove these grey areas.
To see how bad the situation really is, ask for a definitive statement on the real legal copyright of this image. https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Flag_of_South_Africa.svg
Can Wikimedia ZA get involved in this?

Who can give some assistance here? Are any of these files under the wrong licence? Are any of them copyright violations?
Thanks,
David
