Hello everyone, just wanted to share with you all the below email from the
Wikimedia Foundation calling for the Community Technical Development

Subject: Submit your idea for tools to the Wikimedia Community Wishlist
-Deadline November 20th
To:
Hi there,
I am writing to you because I thought you might have ideas for new or
improved tools to add to the Community Wishlist. You do not need to be able
to explain the technical details - just tell us what problem the tool would
solve, and give an example of who would use it. The deadline to add new
ideas is November 20th.
*Think of things that you can't do, but wish you could, such as:*
* Event pages that can be searched by time and location
* Tools to generate lists of articles to work on
* Scripts, bots or modules to make running your programs easier
*Other things to think about:*
* Are there things you want to measure, but you can't?
* Are there processes that you find very time consuming?
* What do you complain about in project meetings and wikimeetups?
Please take a moment to look at the page and add a few ideas:
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/2016_Community_Wishlist_Survey.
All the best,
Kacie

Dear Colleague,
In 2014 a team of researchers set off on a project, supported by SUPSI and UCT to provide primary learners with the necessary information on Wikipedia to complete the cycle of primary education in their language of choice.
We invite you to join us as this project comes to an end to discuss the methodology, findings and models for replication.
Kindly RSVP via Eventbrite<https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/wikipedia-primary-school-the-way-forward-ticket…>.
We look forward to welcoming you to the event.

Later in the day and weekend we will be doing something to celebrate
Afrikaans Wikipedia's 15th anniversary. As you know English Wikipedia's
15th birthday was earlier in the year and we would like to do something
special for one of our local language Wikipedias.
I already mentioned the importance for all existing directors as well as
anyone wishing to become a new director brings with them 2 certified copies
of their ID and address that are less than 2 months old. We need one copy
to setup our new bank account and a second to update our board with the
CIPC. In the past we have experienced considerable difficulty in getting
up-to-date documentation as our board is distributed across the country and
we rely on volunteers to make things happen. So we will be streamlining
things a bit this time to get things done more effectively.
I want to thank the rest of the Wikimedia ZA board, past and present, for
volunteering their time and skills to the chapter. We would not be where
we are today without you.
I will send out an email closer to the date with more details and updates.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Cheers,
Douglas.
