Morning Douglas
Not sure if you're the person to talk to, but there is a promoted post on
facebook for next week's capacity building workshop.
I was very interested until I realised that it's in JHB.
I'm sure that you can set location targeting on an event thereby only
showing the post to relevant users.
Kind regards
Adri
Hello everyone,
This is just a quick reminder that Wikimedia South Africa will be hosting
our monthly Wikipedia workshop/hangout at the American Corner at the Cape
Town Central Library this Saturday (19th May) from 10:00 to 15:00.
Below are the details.
- Location: American Corner, Cape Town Central Library, Grand Parade,
Cape Town.
- Time: 10:00 to 15:00
As always the event is open to everyone.
Regards,
Douglas.
Hi
This is probably most relevant to Afrikaans Wikipedia users - there's a
project on the Finnish Wikipedia to map edits to find out which
countries have had most influence on trusted content. I'd be interested
to see results locally if someone has the time and interest to follow
up. https://twitter.com/Alrahambra/status/993980815091609600

Subject: [Affiliates] Recognizing the one-year anniversary of the Wikipedia
block in Turkey

Hello,
Today the Wikimedia Foundation, in cooperation with a number of volunteers
who attended the Wikimedia Conference, have posted on Twitter and Facebook
a video message speaking to the one-year anniversary of the block of
Wikipedia in Turkey.
The video re-enforces our message that this block is a lost opportunity
both for the people of Turkey and the rest of the world. Any assistance
that you all can offer in terms of helping circulate the video amongst your
networks would be greatly appreciated!

We have also made the video available on Wikimedia Commons if you would

This is a part of our ongoing efforts around the block in Turkey, and done
with input from members of the local community in Turkey. We GREATLY
appreciate the help of everyone involved in the development and all of you
who are sharing these messages. If you have any questions, please let us
know.
