Thanks for the answer. I am aware of the difference in
the two system
variables. I have approximately 87 pages in the Main namespace of a new
wiki. NUMBEROFPAGES is currently 134. So to answer your question, yes
NUMBEROFPAGES is working, but it is not what I want. NUMBEROFARTICLES
was working fine for a while, or so I thought. It seems to be stuck at
32 for some queer reason, even though I added a significant number of
new page to Main yesterday, all of which show up in the Main namespace
when I use the "All pages" function. Everything I try to get it to
update doesn't work.
And just to be sure, these new pages do meet the requirements
necessary for the software to consider them "articles"? Unless I'm
mistaken, contrary to what Help:Variables on
mediawiki.org says[1],
NUMBEROFARTICLES is not a straight count of pages in the main
namespace; according to Help:Article count on meta[2], pages need to
contain at least one internal link in order to be counted (in the
default settings).
If they do and if the count still doesn't update, I'm afraid I can't
help you. :/ However, if you just want a straight count of pages in
the main namespace, you could use {{PAGESINNS:0}} - that should work
(hopefully).
