(I apologize in advance if this is off-topic, but I think it bears
discussing)
I know, and often say to others, that "MediaWiki is not a Content Management
System". Nevertheless, people often use it as such (myself included). As
MediaWiki becomes more robust and featureful, and extensions do more
creative things, it also becomes more attractive to use as a general purpose
web-development platform.
There are a number of various tweaks, extensions and settings that are
dangerous to expose to public wikis with self-registering or guest users,
but are nevertheless very useful if your wiki has a single editor or only a
very limited, trusted editorship.
So, how does the community feel, in general, about documenting these kinds
of "unsafe for everyone" but "useful when authorship is limited"
settings?
I'm not asking someone to do the work - I'm proposing a known, central
location for such dangerous settings so that they're easier to monitor and
moderate.
Your thoughts?

For those of use who don't mind using proprietary formats, is there
any
reason not to simply use an <embed> tag inside MW markup?
Last I checked, it would have to be enabled somehow, as it doesn't
work right out of the box.
If enabled, it may be a security risk, as a malicious writer could
embed all manner of nasty stuff.
