Hello everyone,
I'd like to change the language of the Wiki pages to Pt_Br, but keep the
links in English.
Is that possible ?
Thank you!

I'd like to push wiki changes to an IRC channel (#elinux) on freenode
and I can't seem to get Wikinotify working. The documentation
indicates to set three variables, which I've set to:
$psyctarget = "irc://freenode.net/elinux";
$psychost = "udp://freenode.net";
$psycport = 4404;
Am I missing something?
Thanks
Bill
The full psychnotify.php looks like this:
$psyctarget = "irc://freenode.net/elinux";
$psychost = "udp://freenode.net";
$psycport = 4404;
/* in an ideal world, there is nothing you need to do below here */
function psycnotify($article, $user, $text, $summary, $isminor,
$iswatch, $section) {
global $psyctarget, $psychost;
$url = "http://" . $_SERVER['SERVER_NAME'];
$url .= str_replace("index.php?title=", "index.php/",
substr($_SERVER['REQUEST_URI'], 0, -14));
# header
$s = ":_target\t$psyctarget\n"
# . ":_encoding\tutf-8\n" # PSYC uses UTF-8 anyway
. "\n" # move on from routing layer to application layer
. ":_nick_wiki\t". strToLower($user->mName) ."\n"
. ":_article\t". $article->mTitle->mTextform ."\n"
. ":_page\t$url$section\n";
if ($section) {
$s .= ":_section\t$section\n";
if ($summary && ($p = strpos($summary, " */ ")))
$summary = substr($summary, $p + 4);
}
if ($summary) $s .= ":_summary\t$summary\n";
# method
$mc = "_notice_update_wiki";
if ($isminor) $mc .= "_minor";
$s .= $mc ."\n";
# body
$s .= "(Wiki:[_nick_wiki]) has made a "
. ($isminor ? "minor" : "major")
. " change in [_page]\n";
if ($summary) $s .= "saying: [_summary]\n";
# deliver, as simple as that
$udp = fsockopen($psychost, $psycport);
fwrite($udp, ".\n". $s .".\n");
fclose($udp);
return true;
}
$wgHooks['ArticleSaveComplete'][] = array('psycnotify');

Hi, this is actually from Jeroen De Dauw; I'm just sending it because this
mailing list seems to be bouncing his emails...

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hey,
First of all, let me introduce myself.
I'm Jeroen De Dauw, one of the GSoC students for Wikimedia foundation this
year. During the last 2 months I've been working on 2 new mapping extensions
for MediaWiki and Semantic
MediaWiki<http://semantic-mediawiki.org/wiki/Semantic_MediaWiki>[0]
with Yaron
Koren <http://yaronkoren.com/> [1] as mentor. You can read more about this
at my blog <http://blog.bn2vs.com/tag/semantic-maps/> [2].
The first version of both extensions has just been released. These are the
extensions:
Maps
Maps <http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:Maps> [3] is an extension that
provides the ability to display coordinate data, using multiple mapping
services, including Google Maps [4], OpenLayers [5] and Yahoo Maps [6], and
allows users to geocode addresses.
Semantic Maps
Semantic Maps <http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:Semantic_Maps> [7] is
an extension that adds semantic capabilities to the Maps extension, and
therefore provides the ability to add, view and edit coordinate data stored
through the Semantic MediaWiki extension, using multiple mapping services.
These include Google Maps, OpenLayers and Yahoo Maps. Semantic Maps and Maps
are based on Semantic Google Maps and Semantic Layers, and are meant to
replace these extensions. For this extension to work, you need to have both
Semantic MediaWiki and Maps installed.
You can download both extensions via their documentation pages. Suggestions
and feature requests are welcome.

Hi,
There's no way to do that - you should instead separate out the template
calls, so it looks like:
{{Meeting
|mon=mounth
|days=days
|year=year
|where=where
|title=title
}}
{{Poster
|title=title
|authors=authors
}}
...etc.
I should note that all questions about Semantic Forms should go to the main
Semantic MediaWiki mailing list:

I would like to setup my wiki so that when I click on a page that is
blank I get the "There is currently no text in this page. You can search
for this page title in other pages, search the related logs, or edit
this page." message instead of the edit box. Can this be done?
Regards,
Tim
Hi, I am trying to design a new skin and although it looks good on
Firefox, it looks broken in IE. I am no programmer and to be able to
design a new skin that works in Firefox is admittedly an achievement
by my own lousy standards.
Instead taking care of IE fixes with its many many versions and other
browsers as well, I am thinking of using my skin only for Firefox
browers and monobook for the rest. How do I tweak this code in
LocalSettings.php:
$wgDefaultSkin = 'newskin';
I guess it's something like: if Firebox browser, use 'newskin', else
use 'monobook'.

Expanding on the advice to test the backups, I upgrade MediaWiki sites by:
* renaming the current MediaWiki directory structure
* restoring my most recent file backup to the existing directory
* defining a new MySQL database and restoring my most recent mysqldump
* updating the MediaWiki settings to point to the new database
* verifying that MediaWiki is working
* installing the upgrade and following the upgrade procedure
This allows me to verify that my backups are complete and also lets me
back out the upgrade quickly if problems arise.
Regards, Norbert

Hi all,
I create this page: http://genomics.cribi.unipd.it/index.php/Meetings
with two templates, one inner other:
{{Meeting
|mon=mounth
|days=days
|year=year
|where=where
|title=title
|poster=
{{Poster
|title=title
|authors=authors
}}
{{Poster
|title=title
|authors=authors
}}
{{Poster
|title=title
|authors=authors
}}
}}
I would like create form with semantic form:
{{{for template|Meeting|label=Meetings|multiple}}}
and inner, into parameter 'poster' of Meeting template, I would like
session about
{{{for template|Poster|label=Posters|multiple}}}
Is it possible? Can you help me about how to do?
Best,
Alessandra
What is a good way to confirm that my backup backed up the entire site?
Apart from the site, I also need the images directory, the extensions
directory, and the php configuration file (I forget the name).
Anything else?
