Hello MediaWiki community,
I tried to update from MediaWiki 1.10.2 to 1.11.0. When executing the
maintenance/update.php script I got following error:
Deleting old default messages (this may take a long time!)...
Fatal error: Call to a member function addGroup() on a non-object
in /home/pierre/public_html/wiki.archlinux.de/maintenance/deleteDefaultMessages.php
on line 19
This happens because "$wgUser" is null and
therefor "$wgUser->addGroup( 'bot' );" fails. This might happen because I use
an AuthPlugin which is not allowed to create new users. (Anyway: I think its
a bug in MediaWiki ;-))
My question is: Is this bot user needed anyway? I patched the script according
to the attachment and everything seems to be fine.
Thanks,
Pierre
PS: I never had such a problem when updating to a newer version.
Hi,
I'm tryiny to export my wiki to html. It fail on:
PHP Warning: imagecreatefrompng(/home/mywiki/images/9/9b/Vorneka.png):
failed to open stream: No such file or directory in
/home/mywiki/includes/Image.php on line 1150
PHP Warning: imagecopyresampled(): supplied argument is not a valid
Image resource in /home/mywiki/includes/Image.php on line 1158
PHP Fatal error: imagepng(): gd-png: fatal libpng error: Invalid
number of colors in palette
in /home/mywiki/includes/Image.php on line 1159
Probably one of the picture is bad. How can I fix it?
Thanks
Addady
We've been looking at being able to do much the same thing: simple
categorization, preferably from a listbox/drop-down. Right now I'm leaning
towards the SimpleForms categorization method
(http://www.organicdesign.co.nz/SimpleForms_categorisation_example), though
as Jim points out it might get a little ugly if there are a LOT of
categories. We might actually use a category to categorize the categories
(yes, that's what I said)...in other words, create
Category:CategoriesToShowUpInTheListbox and then apply that to the
categories that we want to appear (and therefore minimize the list).

Hi,
Following the instructions at
http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:Upgrading
resulted in an error for me when running 'php update.php' from the
command line.
The output is
---
MediaWiki 1.11.0 Updater
Going to run database updates for mediawiki
Depending on the size of your database this may take a while!
Abort with control-c in the next five seconds...0
Adding in schema "mediawiki" to search_path for user "wikigtwm"
... sequence log_log_id_seq already exists
... sequence pr_id_val already exists
... table mediawiki_version already exists
... create table mwuser
PHP Warning: pg_query(): Query failed: ERROR: relation "user" does
not exist in /var/www/wiki/includes/DatabasePostgres.php on line 506
Query "ALTER TABLE "user" RENAME TO mwuser
" failed with error code "ERROR: relation "user" does not exist".
---
Now what's different about my installation is that I use postgres
rather than mysql and specified the schema name during initial
installation as 'gtwm' rather than the default 'mediawiki'.
The line
Adding in schema "mediawiki" to search_path for user "wikigtwm"
suggests that the upgrade script is changing the default schema to
mediawiki and when it then can't find a table, it's not surprising -
it's looking in the wrong schema.
This is borne out by connecting to the database as the wiki user - no
tables can be seen. I have to do
ALTER USER wikigtwm SET search_path TO gtwm,public;
to get back to seeing the wiki tables.
However, another possible cause is that the table 'user' which it's
trying to rename to mwuser doesn't exist. If I look in the database,
there's already a table mwuser but no user! I think that the MySQL
schema for the previous version 1.10 used the table name 'user' but
postgresql used 'mwuser' (user is a reserved word). Now if the update
script is written for MySQL it will have a problem here.
So the problem could be either or both of these things.
Any thoughts?
Regards
Oliver

Hi everybody,
I was having problems with an unchanging sidebar and I had
tried all the remedies illustrated here
http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Sidebar#Changes_not_showing_up
but nothing was happening. Out of desperation I tried something
that I didn't expect would work.
Basically this works:
* Departments
** Marketing|Marketing
** Accounting|Accounting
but this doesn't
* Departments
** Marketing
** Accounting
which is strange because the list items are supposed to be links
and standard wikilinks in the form [[link|text]] do not require the text
part.
I just documented this issue on the page in the section
http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Sidebar#Text
but I wonder if it was mentioned elsewhere or if it's maybe a bug?
Whaddayathink?
Ciao!

Hi,
Do you know whether nested group is supported on the latest version of Ldap

Is there something I can set to strip wiki markup from search
results, or something equivalent to noinclude for the search
results? I'd like to suppress the first line in each of these matches:
http://ecoliwiki.net/colipedia/index.php/Special:Search?
search=flgb&go=Go
This could have been avoided with more careful planning and template
usage, but to retrofit, I'm looking at changing ~25000 pages.
