All, I have MW 1.10.1 / IIS / WinXP Server 2003 / PHP 5 / SMTP installed and working flawlessly on our intranet. There is only one thing left to do to make this complete -> Automatic Authentication against the domain 'ACCOUNT-01' via Windows native NTLM authentication. Before I embark on this journey I was hoping that anyone could offer any tips, extension ideas or pitfalls to avoid. I have found these which seem to work with apache but we use IIS for reasons beyond my control. http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Authentication which lists some contenders but nothing I would consider yet and http://www.jamiekerwick.co.uk/?p=13 which is for apache. When I ask for a link to a document showing our in-house SMTP server settings, I get, "Let's have a meeting so you can explain what you are going to do, and the person to meet with is out until next week ..." and so on. I wasn't asking for permission, I was asking for settings! However, since I'm inside an aggressive, undocumented firewall, I'm not sure if my failures are my own settings, or someone actively blocking something, like port 25, hence my request for samples of working ones from anybody else. If I make mine look exactly like someone else's working SMTP, say, even using GMail, then I have a golden example to start from! Does anyone else have some collected settings that make SMTP work for you? I'd LOVE to see a comprehensive page (or four) on http://www.mediawiki.org/ - who wants to build 'em? -- Peter Blaise

Page approvals

I've got a user group that would like to put policies out on a wiki, searchable and viewable to all but only editable by a few. All of this I can do for them. The next thing they want is for someone to be able to "approve" a page online. For this I am envisioning an "approve" tab/button along the top that adds a signature line (I'm pretty sure I could figure out how to do this). I'd like the signature line (~~~~) to be put on the "Discussion" page, or maybe an "approval" page, but I'd also like this approval page to be non-deletable... can only add text to it. (This part I'm definitely not sure how to do. I do see the '+' tab on our discussion pages though.) And, the last thing they want to be able to do is email the pages that are ready to be approved, something like the "email page" button you get on many websites. I've looked for extensions that have a button like this, but no luck so far. Has anyone done any of the above? Possibly it's so simple it doesn't even need an extension, or possibly wiki is the wrong platform for doing this. Users are liking the interface so much though, that they want to adapt it to very specific needs. Many thanks, Beth

[Edit] Tag In Printable Version

When using the 'Printable Version', I still get all the [Edit] links from header sections. I also get a number of other 'site' links in the Printable Version. How do I get rid of this so that I can get a 'clean' document? Brett

MimeMagic detects image/png as text/plain

Dear list, a quick search through the list archives didn't bring up a result so please excuse me if this issue has been solved already. I am currently using Mediawiki 1.9.2. and experienced problems uploading PNG images. Although my test image shows an 'image/png'-mimetype with 'file -i', Mediawiki keeps saying the file was corrupted. Monitoring /tmp/php* while uploading the image again shows the uploaded file to be image/png, too: while(usleep 1); do file -i /tmp/php*|grep -v "ERROR"; done /tmp/phpksjpPO: image/png Mediawiki debug says MimeMagic::detectMimeType: magic mime type of /tmp/phpcDoKKE: text/plain amongst other things, so I guess MimeMagic isn't working correctly.. Searching the meta wiki gives me the hint to add $wgMimeDetectorCommand = "/usr/bin/file -bi"; to LocalSettings.php as a workaround, which actually does the trick. But still I wonder: What's the problem with MimeMagic? Thanks, Sebastian

MW v1.11: DISPLAYTITLE behavior

Hello all, From v1.11's release notes: "Fixed DISPLAYTITLE behaviour to reject titles which don't normalise to the same title as the current page" This means that you can't make the page "Foo" appear as "Bar" anymore (which we used to do on our Main Page, for example). On the one hand, I welcome this fix. On the other hand, though, I wonder why there's no fallback behavior to display the warning from previous versions ("link to this page as ...") for cases where the desired title does not match the page name. Is there maybe a setting to allow for a more liberal use of this magic word? Thanks. -- F.
