LDAP_Authentication has moved

Hi, on http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/LDAP_Authentication there is a hint that this extension was moved, but I now wonder to which place? Does this extension work with latest version 1.10? Kind regards Andreas. -- http://fam-tille.de

Installation Script?

Hi: What is the location of the actual installation script? I'm on SUSE 10 Enterprise and under /username/public_html/wiki/config all I see is index.php5 (extension renamed so it would run under PHP version 5). Is this the installation script? Thanks

Special:Statistics vs. spiders

On our intranet, our MediaWiki system is spidered each day by our web crawler. Unfortunately this throws off the hit totals in Special:Statistics. Is there any way to prevent spider hits from being logged as hits by Special:Statistics? Deleting a specific history

I would like to have the ability to delete a specific history revision. For example, if I notice 10 revisions back that there is some information I do not want anyone to see, can I just select that revision and delete it (doubt it) or would I need to create a new page which would have no history because it is new, then delete the old page to remove its history? -Jim

Problems upgrading from version 1.4 to 1.[89].x

Hi, I have to use a mediawiki from one host to an other and want to use the chance to upgrade the old fashioned 1.4 version (I'm using the Debian packaged version). The new machine is based on SLES9. While I'm a Debian developer personally circumstances require to use this system and I mention it here to make clear that while I'm an experienced Linux user I'm completely new to SLES - perhaps that matters. This new hosts has the following components: $ mysql --version mysql Ver 14.12 Distrib 5.0.26, for pc-linux-gnu (i686) using readline 5.0 as RPM from "anywhere" $ > php --version PHP 5.2.0RC4 (cli) (built: Oct 30 2006 13:25:26) Copyright (c) 1997-2006 The PHP Group Zend Engine v2.2.0, Copyright (c) 1998-2006 Zend Technologies perhaps from source or binary distribution to /usr/local/bin while $ /usr/bin/php --version PHP 4.3.4 (cli) (built: Mar 2 2007 21:34:32) Copyright (c) 1997-2003 The PHP Group Zend Engine v1.3.0, Copyright (c) 1998-2003 Zend Technologies resides in parallel on this machine. Moreover the former admin has installed MediaWiki 1.8.2 (from October 13, 2006) under /srv/www/htdocs/wiki. It would be no problem for me to replace this installation by tha latest stable mediawiki version if this is advised and would help in the problem, provided that the LDAP patch which was manually added will work as flawlessly as in this installation. I noticed that the former admin did not set an mysql passwd and you might call me paranoid but I did /usr/bin/mysqladmin -u root password 'passwd' (Perhaps this is the source of my trouble.) how to use <math></math> in a link text ?

Auto Number Headings

I know you can set 'Auto number Headings' on or off as part of the user preferences and it can be set as a default either way for the whole wiki, but is there a way that it can be set on for specific pages that over rides the users preferences , I'd like to force it on on some pages that are compendiums made up from multiple wiki pages. As these pages are all in a name space 'All' it would be really neat to be able to switch it on for any page within the 'All' name space. Thanks John

Texvc problem ?

Dear list, I am a newbie to MediaWiki. I am facing some problem with the math environment in version 1.9.3. I am not sure if it is a Texvc problem. Even if I put simplest math expression like: <math>n=0</math>, the output shows "*Failed to parse (Can't write to or create math temp directory): n=0" I have checked thoroughly that apache has permission to write at required places. Even I have tried 'chmod -R 777 wiki/' to give write permission everywhere ! Any help/suggestion will be highly appreciated. Regards, Suman. *

Search index disregards swedish characters

Hi all, I just rebuilt the search index of my Swedish data with the rebuildtextindex.php script and noticed that when searching on Swedish characters I will never find any matches. How disappointing... How can this be? I use MW1.9.3, and MYSIAM with latin1_bin on the searchindex table. Do I have to set some specifc settings somewhere in order to get non English characters properly indexed? Regards, // Rolf Lampa

Hi, Wikipedia allows for a wildcard search. Since I want to use this in my Wiki, too: How is it done in Wikipedia? By an extension? By configuration (which I haven't discovered yet)?
