I think this might not be too hard to write, but I thought I'd see if
anyone has done this already. I'd like to create a specific
namespace called news and then create an RSS feed that would show the
content of the most recently updated articles from that namespace.
Anyone have such an extension?

Hi,
I have MW 1.10. Main.css and Common.css contain wikitable format:
table.wikitable,
table.prettytable {
margin: 1em 1em 1em 0;
background: #f9f9f9;
border: 1px #aaa solid;
border-collapse: collapse;
}
table.wikitable th, table.wikitable td,
table.prettytable th, table.prettytable td {
border: 1px #aaa solid;
padding: 0.2em;
}
table.wikitable th,
table.prettytable th {
background: #f2f2f2;
text-align: center;
}
table.wikitable caption,
table.prettytable caption {
margin-left: inherit;
margin-right: inherit;
font-weight: bold;
}
I use this format in many pages. If I print the format can not be seen.
How can I solve this problem?
Regards,
Gabor
I'm on the verge of being able to do what I want, but not quite there.
Perhaps someone can push me over the edge?
I have templates one of which looks like this:
{{Web citation
|web link=
|title=
|author=
|date=Month dd, YYYY
|source=
|wesay=
|extract=}}
I can call this template a number of times on any given page and list a
number of links to articles all over the web. When the template presents its
output it makes variables like {{{author}}} and {{{source}}} into internal
wiki links.
Let's say we have:
source=New York Times
and that appears in many calls to this template from many pages. On the
summary page that I will have for the New York Times, I'd love to have a
list of all the titles and links to the articles for the NYT that I quote
from across the wiki (even if they are on pages that contain other article
links to other sources).
I'm playing with both the Semantic Media extension and the DPL. With DPL I
can get a list of all pages that contain some link to the NYT. I can even
(through use of the template feature) get access to the other parts of the
template calls to get at the {{{title}}} and {{{web link}}} parameters. The
problem is this query will always give me all the OTHER articles referenced
on those pages, even if they aren't for the NYT.
I've not worked out if Semantic can help me yet on this either. It seems to
be about categorising whole pages as well.
If you've got this far and are interested in helping me, well done! I am
close to having something of quite general use, but I'm not there yet.

Hi,
I have different groups in my wiki.
Rollback permission allows one-click reversion of edits. What is this about?
What is the usage of this? How can I use this function? I tried to
enable/disable this function, but I could not see any changes!
I think if I change rollback permission to false
-$wgGroupPermissions['Author']['rollback'] = false -
, Authors can not view history. Because of this Authors can not undo changes
- can not view related changes and after that can not edit and save an older
version of the page. (Is it right?) But it is not work in my wiki.
How can I disable rollback function?
How can I disable rollback tab AND/OR related changes on Authors's pages?
Best Regards,
Gabor
Hi all,
I'm making/playing with a wiki site where I want to make a
"user group" who in turn will give access to other people to do
edits/submissions stuff like that. No anonymous editing is done.
Right now I've done
# Prevent new user registrations except by sysops
$wgGroupPermissions['*']['createaccount'] = false;
This is done in LocalSettings.php
which basically prevents anybody from doing any edits except a single
user. I am using MySQL as my database. I saw this which might have
the goods which I need
http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:%24wgGroupPermissions but unable
to make sense of it.
Can somebody help/guide me.
Regards,

Is there a way to count downloads of a file (or clicks on a given link,
in general)?
I have a file, and I would like to know how many times it was downloaded
by using a link from a wiki:
http://example.com/cool_file.tar.bz2 [Count: 1234]
Obviously, this link would have to be hidden behind some other link
(something like
http://example.com/wiki/download_redirect:example.com/cool_file.tar.bz2)
Perhaps some extension? I wouldn't like to parse web logs, I'm too lazy ;)

Having trouble with bots placing gibberish on our site. I first want to understand the why?
It could be :
* They testing or trying to get setup to spam search engine indexes?
* They are measuring the time to rollback?
* Spy code words - pass information anonymously without traceability?
* Want to destroy search engine ranking?
* ??
Anyone have a clear understanding of this?

Hi,
How can I list all username on the Special:Userights page? First I have to
specify a username before I click on the button "Edit User Groups".
Are there any other page, where I could list all user?
Regards,
Gabor
Sorry all... It seems that with
$wgUseTidy = true;
in LocalSettings.php it works!

Hi all, I need some hints about this problem:
I need to create a gallery with images from a category.
First I started with this piece of code:
{{#dpl:
|category = {{{categoria}}}
|namespace = Image
|mode = userformat
|format = «gallery»,%PAGE%¦%TITLE%\n,,«/gallery»
|noresultsheader = No image in this category.
}}
But the result is not so good, as you can see here:
http://www.usnb.it/wiki/index.php?title=Materiale_di_Supporto:Gli_Stemmi_de…
all the coats of arms are in the same size, but the pictures differs because there
are different crowns. The resizing in thumbnails is not so good.... and it seems that
it is not possible to passing a template to <gallery> for image rendering.
Thus I adopted this solution:
{{#dpl:
|category = Stemmi dei Casati
|namespace = Immagine
|mode = userformat
|format = «table border="1"»«tr»,«td valign=bottom»²{ImagePerc¦immagine=%TITLE%¦larghezza=100¦descrizione=%TITLE%}² ,«/td»²{#if: ²{#pos:%NR%¦0}² ¦ «/tr»«tr» ¦ }²,«/tr»«/table»
|noresultsheader = Nessuna immagine in questa categoria, per il momento.
}}
ImagePerc is a template able to resizing an image both by percentage and pixel
width:
[[Image:{{{immagine}}}|{{ #if:{{#pos:{{{larghezza|100}}}|px}}|{{{larghezza|100}}}| {{#expr: ({{#imgw: {{{immagine}}} }} * {{{larghezza|100}}}) / 100 }}px }}|{{{descrizione|}}}]]
#imgw is a parser function able to retrieve the width of the given image.
The result seem better, but the </tr><tr> are rendered as string and not tags,
despite the DPL escape characters adopted.

Any hints?
Thanks
