One doubt-u said about copy/pasting from Word to MW. Are using any
WYSWYG editor in MW? Otherwise I guess formattign will be lost when u
copy/paste to MW. Are you aware of the fact that there's a macro
avaialbe for MS Word to convert word documents to wiki format, os that
in one click you can get the formatted document in your wiki. Also, in
OpenOffice, you can export the document to wiki format.

Subject: [Mediawiki-l] Cut&Paste from MW crash MS Word
Hi everybody,
has anybody noticed crashes of MS Word when cut&pasting from a MediaWiki
page (not the wikitext, the actual page display)?
I've observed this behavior here at work and short of recommending to
switch to OpenOffice (something that won't go down with the MS addicted
IT dpt), I'm not quite sure what else to say.
=?

Hi
I just can't figure out how to make an if expression on skin/template
file that checks if you are on main page or not - and after that writes
some html. The problem seems to be that I can't find the freakin
variable that contains the name of current page or article.
I searched the entire forum and also the archive of this list. There
doesn't seem to be any reasonable answer to this, only lots of questions
similar to mine. But I guess somebody must know, after all somebody
coded this... right? :)
Greetings,
Teemu
Hi@All,
I'm trying to implement lucene search to my wiki. The wiki ist used as a
intranet solution on a windows system. As windows doesn't support
hard and softlinks it's recommanded to use the c# daemon.
http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Installing_lucene_search
But I#ve no idea what to do to get the extension work. Perhaps someone
out here could give me some useful hints
regards
Mic
Hi all. I have a question regarding the MediaWiki license and the
possibility of developing commercial software on top of MediaWiki; if this
list isn't the correct address, please let me know who I should ask.
I'm considering developing a commercial product on top of MediaWiki. I
understood that MediaWiki is provided with the GPL license, so does this
mean I will have to open up any proprietary code I develop and share it with
the community? Is there a way to obtain MediaWiki under a different license,
and make proprietary developments without having to open them up? Or perhaps
I can develop commercial MediaWiki plugins and not have to open them up?
I'll be much appreciative if you could help me understand which options I
have.
Many thanks,

Hi
I have a AD server, it's domain name is exchangetest.umtest.local. I want
to configure mediawiki using AD authentication. For example, A user login
mediawiki, if he is in AD, then he will be created in mediawiki and log on
successfully, if he is not in AD, he will log on failed.
I have read about LDAP Authentication,but can't resolve the issue. my
LocallSeting.php is like below:
$wgGroupPermissions['*' ]['createaccount'] = false;
$wgGroupPermissions['user']['createaccount'] = false;
$wgGroupPermissions['*']['read'] = true;
$wgGroupPermissions['*']['edit'] = false;
$require_once("extensions/LdapAuthentication.php");
$wgAuth= new LdapAuthenticationPlugin();
$wgLDAPDomainNames = array( "exchangetest" );
$wgLDAPServerNames = array( "exchangetest"=>"
exchangetest.exchangetest.umtest.local" );
$wgLDAPProxyAgent =
array("exchangetest"=>"cn=administrator,cn=users,dc=exchangetest,dc=umtest,dc=local");
$wgLDAPProxyAgentPassword = array("exchangetest"=>"Password");
$wgLDAPSearchAttributes = array ("exchangestest"=>"sAMAccountName");
$wgLDAPBaseDNs = array("dc=exchangetest,dc=umtest,dc=local");
$wgLDAPUseSSL = array( "exchangetest"=>"ssl");
$wgLDAPUseLocal = false;
$wgLDAPDisableAutoCreate = array("exchangetest"=>"false");
$wgMinimalPasswordLength = 1;
I am a newbie on mediawiki, Could you please give me some advice?
Best Regards
hrwang
I am once again returning to the task or cleaning the database prior to a
launch.
We have several hundred thousand pages and up to 20-30 revisions per page. I
need to strip all revisions prior to the current one to effectively clear
the history for each page.
I know from a previous message from Rob that the DeleteOldRevisions.php
script a bad way to go and may give unexpected results so I am tackling this
directly in SQL.
It would appear that deleting all entries in tblrevision EXCEPT the latest
(i.e. chronologically latest rev_timestamp) and each of the associated
entries in the text table (where revision.rev_text_id=text.old_id) is the
way to go.
Does this look like it will give me what I am looking for, deleting all
revisions/txt except the latest? Is there anything else I need to delete to
clean the database?
Bearing in mind this site is pre-launch and has nothing other than straight
forward textual pages, albeit a lot of them.
Thanks,
Paul
Hi
I'm interested in applying custom rules for who is allowed to create a new account on my wiki, e.g. only allow new users who use an e-mail address from a particular domain.
How can I do this? I have looked at the ConfirmAccount-Extension but from what I understand it involves sysops manually approving new accounts, which seems cumbersome. Is there any way to do it automatically?
/Aron
May be of interest and potentially useful in developing MW features?
cheers,
Brianna

To: cc-community(a)lists.ibiblio.org
Dear all,
In the last weeks we were developing a novel platform for spurring
innovation and development of open-source software, which we think can
have quite an impact on open-knowledge, open-source and web
collaboration in general: Cofundos.org is about revealing bright ideas
regarding the development of open-source software and attracting a
critical mass for their realization:
http://www.cofundos.org
The main idea of Cofundos.org is to share innovative (open-source)
ideas, to refine them and to mobilize funding for their realization.
All content contributed to Cofundos is truly open, the licenses are
CC-BY and OSI approved OS licenses. All (non-sensitive) content is
available as Atom, JSON feeds or RDF export.
We would like to invite all of you to login using your OpenId (or to
register) and to post software ideas, requirements or even bid for the
realization of existing projects.
Please don't hesitate to get back to us in case you have further questions.
On behalf of the AKSW team [1],
Sören

They've just been waiting in a mountain for the right moment:

Hi all...
How is possible to create a template in order to show a dynamic html table? (i.e. a table
with variable number of cols and rows )
e.g.
{{TableTemplate | nrow=3 | ncol=2 | C11 | C12 | C21 | C22 | C31 | C32 }}
<table>
<tr><td>C11</td><td>C12</td></tr>
<tr><td>C21</td><td>C22</td></tr>
<tr><td>C31</td><td>C32</td></tr>
</table>
{{TableTemplate | nrow=1 | ncol=2 | C11 | C12 }}
<table>
<tr><td>C11</td><td>C12</td></tr>
</table>
etc. etc.
I tried with LoopFunctions, but with no success... I think that the problem is
related on how the parser manages the tags.
Thanks
Giuseppe
