Hello, I've just installed mediawiki but when I wrote <ref>bla</ref>, "bla" is not where I wrote <reference /> as a footnote. Any idea? Thancks.

XML File Upload

Hi list i'm trying to upload some xml files on a mediawiki 1.6.9 (can't upgrade cause there is no php5). i've set the following variables: $wgEnableUploads = true; $wgFileExtensions = array( 'png', 'gif', 'jpg', 'jpeg', 'ppt', 'pdf', 'pub', 'doc', 'xls', 'xml', 'zip'); $wgStrictFileExtensions = false; and in the php.ini file i've set "file_uploads = on" but i still get the following error, when i try to upload a xml-file (.xml) i get the following error: "The file is corrupt or has an incorrect extension. Please check the file and upload again." does anyone know this problem? regards martin

Hi, I think you don't need Cite extension for this; but need Template:Reflist from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Reflist to use the <ref> tags. Click on "view source" and copy the contents from that Wikipedia page and create a new page Template:Reflist in your wiki, paste the contents there and save. Then at the end of your articles, add {{reflist}} .Now you should be able to see the references tagged with <ref> tag. You need to establish a standard within the wiki that every TLA gets its own article. Then establish another standard that the first reference in every article to a TLA is a wikilink to that TLA. That way you have all the TLAs defined, and you can easily discover the articles that refer to them. Color Plate

Hi I am trying to create a toolbar button that inserts a color tag on both sides of the sentence for example: Mary had a little lamb What I have now is a button that inserts the But it's not suitable for my users :( What they ask is a button that when you click it opens up a variety of different colors (Color Plate) to choose from and then inserts the tags with the specific color embedded.. I would like to know whether it's possible? Did someone had implemented it in the past and there for has a working example. Regards Addady

Numbered lists

Hi all, I'm still new to MediaWiki and the wiki language in general. I've been trying to add preambles into numbered lists (for, say, source code), but the lists gets renumbered. So, for example: # Item A <pre> Some stuff </pre> # Item B In this case, Item B gets the number 1, instead of 2 (which is what I want). I know whitespace is suppose to start a new list...so, I thought that meant this would make Item B #1: # Item A <pre> Some stuff </pre> # Item B Perhaps I don't quite understand what is meant by whitespace? Is there some way I can do <pre> while having the numbering continue? Am I doing something else wrong? Thank you! Ray

Hi, I just need some help on how to display the first few items of page on another page using a template? Something like in the "MediaWiki News" wherein only the first few items(Recent News) of the page will display on the mainpage and has a link below to display the whole page or older contents. Any help would be appreciated. -zham
