Hi,
I have a funny problem with wiki. I'm not even sure what is this caused by. I'm trying to add an article to corporate wiki. It has around 70 KB... Anyway I can add it to my testing wiki on localhost, but I cannot add it to corporate wiki. Around 62nd kilobyte at some point I cannot add anything more, because saving the article with this extra character/word/sentence causes that article becomes empty :D... Is that a matter of some configuration/bug/my browser/database whatever? How can that be fixed? Anyone encountered such problem?
Data from version special page
# MediaWiki: 1.7.1
# PHP: 5.1.4
# MySQL: 5.0.24

Howdy!
I have Media Wiki 1.6.8 setup with Authentication to LDAP - this is
behaving as advertised.
I would now like to set it up so that only members of a specific group
have access to editing
the pages, though anyone can view them.
I can send the config file or relevant bits if you think it will help -
or do I need to do something
different?

I posted this as I joined, but since I haven't seen it in the mailing
lists, I think I might've done something wrong.
First of all, pardon me if this doesn't go here, but I'm a brandnew
MediaWiki user and I turned here because I couldn't find a solution to
my problem anywhere. So, I'm hoping maybe you can. (And also, I hope
this is what the mailinglist is intended for, although I'd appreciate it
if you'd tell me if it wasn't)
I've created my Wiki (currently running here
<http://lyrcanna.xtservices.net>) for use in my Pen&Paper Roleplaying
Campaign so my players have an easily accesible database of 'everything'
in the campaign world.
So I wanted to create an index in the MediaWiki:Sidebar which currently
has the standard:
* Main Page
* Community portal
* Current events
* Recent changes
* Random page
* Help
* Donations
Now I'm working on reforging this whole thing into a simple
* Introduction
* Chapter 1 - History
* Chapter 2 - Regions
* etcetera...
For this, I consulted a friend of mine who is fluent (-ish) in java
programming for information on how to add a pull-down menu to this. So
that if someone would click on let's say Chapter 1, he'd get
* Introduction
* Chapter 1 - History
* A - The First Age
* B - The Second Age
* etcetera...
* Chapter 2 - Regions
* etcetera...
He forwarded me the following HTML code:

Which can be viewed here <http://test.xtservices.net/LyrcannaTest2.htm>.
He also wrote the showHide.js applet that makes this whole thing tick.
However, nomatter what I do, I can't get it running in the SideBar.
Would any of you know how to implement this code?
Or would any of you know of another way of implementing the
functionality I'm looking for?
EDIT: I just noticed that the java applet doesn't appear to be working
on my test-site for it either. However, this is probably due to the
workings of java-applets in combination with the suppliers of my domain
space and not due to the fact that the html-code isn't supported (which
'is' the case on the mediawiki I think).
Thought I'd supply you with the contents of the java applet too... Just
in case.

Similar question to Dinth's, but rather than actually rename the "Main
Page", how can I not have the page display the words "Main Page". I would
like the sort of effect that Wikipedia has that the Main Page is called main
page but does not display the words. See
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page
Thanks,

Hi!
I've been sitting in front of my computer trying to figure this out for
hours...
I've set up a media pool where all the image files should be stored. I also
have two language wikis (hoping to have more in the future). The image
resizing on the pool wiki works fine. But somehow it doesn't work on the
language wikis. I always get the message:
Error creating thumbnail: convert: no encode delegate for this image format
`//media.jesus-wiki.org/w/images/thumb/7/7e/PD-icon.png/80px-PD-icon.png'.
It all seems to depend on what I set for the $wgSharedUploadDirectory in the
LocalSettings file of the language wikis. But I might be wrong. I set:
$wgSharedUploadDirectory = 'http://media.jesus-wiki.org/w/images';
When I just add the image without resizing it ([[Bild:PD-icon.png]]) it
works ok and the image shows. But when I add resizing ([[Bild:
PD-icon.png|80px]]) I get the error message.
I'd really like to know how I can solve this problem! I really need your
help!
If you need any other information, please ask!
Thank you!
GBY! Denise
I use wikipedia for 2 years.
and...become to most favorite site...:)
and, NOW,
I format all windows XP Pro, and install Fedora Core 5, APM, MediaWiki
to my PC. :)))
and...
I have a question about settings.
1. How set? Interwiki setting for my mediawiki...
SO DIFFICULT...
HELP!!
copy and paste your LocalSettings.php setting for me, please...
( 2. How set? I want to use Commons images for my mediawiki...
I get a exact answer. [[m:IntatntCommons]] )
Perhaps I am being naive here, but...
Is it very difficult to (re)implement
<nowiki>
</nowiki><pre><nowiki>
PRE FORMATTED
</nowiki></pre>
Syntax to work properly? Any ideas. I am ready to spend some time, if there's hope.

This almost do the trick (still there is a weird indentation)
# 1
# 2
#: <pre> line 1 pre-formatted
#: and line 2 pp.
#: and line 3</pre>
# 3
# 4
