Just installed MediaWiki on OS X and I have an
internal page with a space in the name...
Can't seem to link to the page!!!!
Page name is:
'Drawing Numbering'
Link is
Drawing Numbering
Pages without spaces in the name link ok. I've tried
Drawing_Numbering and Drawing%20Numbering but
neither work.
As I mentioned previously I set up MW last night on my
PC in about 5 minutes. @$^%@$%^ Mac is proving a
pain!!!
Any help appreciated.
Nicholas

Hi,
at (german) wikipedia you can find the variables like LOCALHOUR which is
used in templates like "Date display".
See at german wikipedia <http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/WP:VAR> .
But on the local wiki these variables are missing.
How can i add them to display the local time and not UTC-time?
Thanks in advance.
Armin
Hi,
as far as I can see, MediaWiki does currently not provide a meta
description tag such as
<meta name="description" content="India, officially the Republic of
India, is a country in South Asia. It is the seventh-largest country
by geographical area, the second most populous country, and the
largest liberal democracy in the world."/>
for http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/India.
It seems that several search engines make use of such a tag, such as google.
http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient-ff&ie=UTF-8&rls=GGGL,GGGL:2…
will give out every indexed page on lexikon.meyers.de (which is a
pretty hacked MediaWiki, by the way). The "Erfahren sie mehr über
$LEMMA in Meyers Lexikon online." is coming from the description part.
Is there a point in having such a tag for MediaWiki (the first x chars
of the leadsection text of that page) and therefore, is there a point
in filing a feature request on bugzilla for it?

Hi,
I am trying to get math formula's to appear. First I got the following:
Failed to parse (Missing texvc executable; please see math/README to
configure.): \sqrt 9 = 3
then I compiled and installed the texvc executable. Now I get the following:
Failed to parse (unknown error): \sqrt 9 = 3
The only change (other than copying the texvc executable to the /math/ dir)
is to make the setting in LocalSettings.php to:
$wgUseTeX = true;
P.S. I am getting mediawiki hosted, so I don't have full run of the apache
server, etc...
Thanks.

I'm embarking on a project at work, using MediaWiki, and one of the
things that would make it far more useful would be LiquidThreads, so I'm
wondering, what stage is that at? Should I be holding off on installing
for a few weeks while it's tested, or should I plan on a major upgrade
in a few months or so? Or is it even further out on the horizon/stalled?
Hi Marco,
try this:
global $wgRequest;
$foobar = $wgRequest->getVal('test');
echo $foobar;
Cheers, Jimmy

Hello at all,
I searched a lot to get a answer, but I didn't found it.
Is it possible to get the HTTP GET parameters directly to a self made
mediawiki extension which is installed in ./extensions?
Something like
http://www.domain.tld/wiki/index.php/Mainpage?test=myvalue
Any other solution to get the parameter into the extension?

I would like to install a full text search for a local hosted wiki. I
can not find the lucene-search from the svn source now.
What is my options? Can someone point me to a more detail guide?

No. And they should update to 1.6.8 or 1.7.1 for security reasons...
Cheers Jimmy
