hi,
did anybody know an extension to show pdf- files in my wiki- window?
I want to see my pdf- file like an image without clicking on the link,
which opens the file with the acroread.
Cheers

Hi,
I'm running a site which uses MediaWiki, unfortunately the
number of database connections at a single time is restricted. Does
Mediawiki create a database connection for every single user that logs
into the site? I'm not to sure of how this works and would really
appreciate any feedback I can get on this....
Thanks in advance,
AJ
Is there an extension or feature that makes it possible to include a string of text from an external web page into a MW?
Something like [include|www.somesite.org/index.php], that grabs text within the <body>-tag of the external web page ?

Would it be possible to include Special:Recentchanges in the body of
another page? That is, suppose I want my main page to show the titles
of recently edited pages?
I suppose that the special pages must be built out of some sort of
template and query combination, but I've been unable to locate
documentation on them.
This is using MediaWiki 1.6.6.
Thanks very much in advance.

Hi,
I want to remove the item from the User Preferences page that lets Users
change the skin they see my site with. What is the best way to do this?
*Why*
I want to remove the skin choice from User Preferences because I have
some customizations in Monobook that are important to my site and I
don't want to go though customizing more than one skin.
One example of my site CSS customizations is some green bordered cards
on a page. The cards' green borders and layouts are CSS classes
customized in
skins/monobook/main.css
and, so that they will print properly, also in
skins/common/commonPrint.css
The green bordered cards are on this page:

Ideas?
Thanks,
Roger :-)

Is it possible to add extra sidebar entries from within my special page? I
only want them to show when the relevant special page is shown.
Or is editing Mediawiki:Sidebar the only way to get things on that part of the
screen?

A: Because it messes up the order in which people normally read text.
Q: Why is top-posting such a bad thing?

My understanding is that I should be able to add further navigation
sidebars (separate from the default nav sidebar) by putting more
top-level outline elements in the "MediaWiki:SideBar" page. This works,
but it also give me a "$1" in the sidebar. Presumably I'm not including
data that, at some level, PHP expects, can anyone tell me what I'm doing
wrong?
Thanks,
Ken

It will only replace pages with a newer timestamp. Make sure to increase
the timestamp in the XML file before you import.

Is there any way I can ensure that every page on mediawiki has a
template set on it.... I'm not talking about preloading a new page which
would still allow users to delete the template tag....
Thanks,
AJ
