Ah, yes I do use that feature but with a few lines of HTML there can be a search bar directly on that page that inserts that code for us. I use it on my phpBB forum. I still have not figured out how to get it in my wiki. Here is the details: http://www.google.com/faq_freewebsearch.html I don't quite understand php well enough to get it to generate into the search page. I am still trying however. You can see it in the footer on my forum here: http://holographyforum.org/phpBB2/search.php I would like it to show up when I get a search with no results on my wiki as well. :? Colin

Database Error when access Special:log

Everything in my wiki seems ok, but when I want to check the Special:Log page, it responsed me: Database error A database query syntax error has occurred. This may indicate a bug in the software. The last attempted database query was: (SQL query hidden) from within function "". MySQL returned error "1030: Got error 28 from storage engine (localhost)". Can anyone tell me what happens? Thanks.

Trouble Upgrading from 1.5.8 to 1.6.2

I downloaded the latest code and tried to update my database but unfortunately I got an error that I could not resolve on my own. What I did was: 1. install mediawiki to a new directory 2. Copy LocalSettings.php and AdminSettings.php from old wiki to new 3. Updated *.Settings.php (corrected paths and checked user names) 4. update.php The database users I set in my settings files are root. Below is a copy of the output: # php update.php Going to run database updates for wikidb Depending on the size of your database this may take a while! Any ideas on what's going on? Is the error coming from the database? For the fun of it I ran "chmod 777 /var/db/mysql" and tried again and got the same error. Could I create the table by hand and run the updater again with out confusing it?

Serious frozen PHP processes

Hi! I have a very confusing problem using MediaWiki 1.5.8, PHP 4.3.10-16 (cgi-fcgi), MySQL 4.0.24_Debian-10sarge1-log and Apache 2.0.54 on Debian Sarge. Sometimes PHP processes are just freezing and hold in memory. If too many from them are gathered, the server is running out of RAM and everything is standing. [[Category:MyCategory|DisplayThisInstead]] Is rendered as Categories: MyCategory instead of Categories: DisplayThisInstead i.e. the syntax is the same as piped link but is in fact a category sort key. It'd be more consistent to use [[Category:MyCategory|DisplayThisInstead|MySortKey]] Has this issue been discussed before? Would there be any problems introducing this change? Cheers,

"Login" stay a page only

Hi, Dose someone else encounter the same situation as mine: I login on the page Special:Userlogin, and after I go to the other page, the system logout me automatically. Everything was ok a day before, and suddently, it happened. Who manages dewiki ? Request for enabling e-mail notification for user_talk pages in dewiki

I'd like to ask the de-wiki admins to enable the E-mail notification for changes on User_talk (Benutzer_Diskussion) pages. The basically only thing to do is to set $wgEnotifUserTalk to true (in DefaultSettings.php; by default it is set false).

Allow '+' character in article names?

At present, the character '+' isn't allowed in article names. Is there any particular reason for this? Would it be easy to change? Many chemical compounds have pluses in their name and on our wiki we'd like to have articles with the compound name as the article title. It may also be relevant for chemical compounds in wikipedia.
