Hi all, (and especially Rob... me again)
Ok, so if I look at the source of the image page Fx_Image_43.jpg:
<div class="fullImageLink" id="file">
<a href="/phase3/images/6/66/Fx_Image_43.jpg">
<img src="/phase3/skins/common/images/icons/fileicon.png" alt=""
height="120" width="120"></a>
...
(14KB, MIME type: <code>image/jpeg</code>)</span>
As you can notice, the link and the image doesn't fit.
Can someone tell me where this
"/phase3/skins/common/images/icons/fileicon.png" come from? Is that a
clue to what might be messed up ?
Thank you for your help.
François
I've made an extension, "EventCountdown".
On Meta's "Extending wiki markup" page it says that I
should now notify this list.
The extension can be found here:
http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/EventCountdown_Extension
Briefly, it's useful for displaying messages like "Only 11
days 'til X Day", which automatically vanish when X Day
arrives. On our intranet, I use it to display countdowns
to various trade shows or key product releases.
If anyone's a localisation expert, take a peek. It has
a feature to pluralise "day" so it doesn't say "1 days to
go!" but I don't know how to approach localisation.
Any tips would be good, or go ahead and modify the
extension yourself.
All feedback is welcome!
On a tech note: I'm a C++ programmer, new to PHP, and
I'm a bit worried about whether I'm polluting the global
namespace with symbols like my function "getDaysBetween".
What's the deal with that in PHP?
cheers,
Matt Curtis
I'd like to use the User email form as a way for people to provide
feedback. When I add a link to Special:Emailuser&target=Josiah the
link doesn't work. It messes the ampersand up. How can I put a link in
a wiki page to this?
Thanks,
JSR/
Trying to find out what is going wrong with the images,
I've found out that most of the $info array wasn't set in the database:
so, if my images are not showing, it might simply be because the size of
the images in DB is 0 and 0.
Was the "rebuildImages.php" file or the "fiveupgrade.inc" recently
modified to misworking.
I added
elseif( $magic->isPHPImageType( $mime ) ) {
$gis = getimagesize( $filename );
$this->log( "$filename" );
$this->log( " OK: $mime" );
$this->log( " width:".$gis[0]."height:".$gis[1] );
and I see that $gis[0] and $gis[1] are correctly set
But still img_width=0 img_height=0 img_bits=0
Note that I manually changed the minor and minor extension, so those are
correct.
Sincerly, for any help on what is going wrong on my install.

Tried this. LocalSettings.php now reads (partially, obviously):
$wgShowIPinHeader = false; # For non-logged in users
$wgWhitelistRead = array( "Main Page", "Special:Userlogin", "-",
"MediaWiki:Monobook.css" );
$wgGroupPermissions['*']['read'] = false;
$wgGroupPermissions['*']['createaccount'] = false;
$wgGroupPermissions['*']['edit'] = false;
$wgGroupPermissions['sysop']['edit'] = true;
$wgGroupPermissions['sysop']['read'] = true;
This doesn't allow logging in at all (no one can access the
Special:Userlogin page). Any ideas? :)

Hello,
I am looking to use the search results that wikipedia and mediawiki uses
that shows article relevancy instead of the default search format. How
do I do this? Idiot's language please. I'm a newbie.
Thanks in advance.

As Rob suggested I should run the rebuildimages.php on web server, how
can I get rid of the protection specified by command line use.
How to run it as a simple php page ?
Thanks

I am using shared hosting which disables shell_exec for security
reasons. Can I still use the math extension? Here is the errors I
receive trying to use it:
shell_exec() has been disabled for security reasons in
/home/.olin/robkohr/wiki/includes/Math.php on line 75
Failed to parse (unknown error): \sum_{n=3}^\infty \frac{x^z}{j!}
Thanks,
Rob
