Anyone experienced this problem?
My MW182 installation throws a "500 internal server error". Some of
the special pages work fine, but none of the regular content pages are
displayed. The Main_Page shows up with navigation elements but no
content. Following any m-wiki links results in 500 error pages.
To test the server configuration I made a fresh MW install with a new
database (w other namespace), and it seems that that empty MW is
working fine. That should mean that the problem that creates the 500
messages are in the database not in the php code. I can access all the
tables from PhpMyAdmin, so its probably an inconsistency in the
database tables that cause the problem.
Is it possible to repair the MW database tables without doing harm to the data?

When you edit an article, below the edit window is a list of all used
templates. In some cases we restrict edit rights on a page, thus the
user can not see the used template list.
I would like to provide a link in the toolbox section below "what links
here": "what templates are used" that gives the list of the templates
for the current article.
How can I do that?

Gunter
Is ImageMagick supposed to resize images?
I uploaded a jpg image and it didn't get resized. Heres the code I have
in my LocalSettings.php file.
$wgEnableUploads = true;
$wgUseImageResize = true;
$wgUseImageMagick = true;
$wgImageMagickConvertCommand = "/usr/local/bin/convert";

No affront to MediaWiki intended, but the Apple Teams wiki is supposed
to have calendaring and scheduling integrated -- along with WYSIWYG
editing:

Problem is you can only get a beta at the present -- due out "for
real" this spring.

I would like to add pictures to my MediaWiki site. According to some
documentation I was reading I need to enable file uploads in
LocalSettings.php. I copied the code, pasted it into the
LocalSettings.php file. When I went to upload a file it said file
uploads were not allowed.
How do I turn file uploads on?
I tried the following code
$wgUploadPath = "$wgScriptPath/uploads"; ## Wiki 1.5 defaults to /images, but allows more than just images
$wgUploadDirectory = "$IP/uploads"; ## Wiki 1.5 defaults to /images, but allows more than just images
## To enable image uploads, make sure the above '$wgUploadPath' directory is writable by Apache User or group.
## /(i.e. chmod og+w uploads images)/ then the following should be true:
$wgEnableUploads = true;
Hi,
I've recently installed this and it seems generally to work fine, but I get
some annoying results sometimes when searching. I've created one page called
"Bird on the Wire" and another called "Leonard Cohen". When I search for
"Leonard Cohen" or "leonard cohen" it goes straight to the article, likewise
when I type "Bird on the Wire" that also goes direct to that page. But when
I type "bird on the wire", or anything not in *exactly* the same case as the
actual article name e.g. "Bird on the wire", "bird on The Wire" etc, the
results say 'There is no page titled ":bird on The wire". You can create
this page.' (Note the colon before the search term - this always comes up
when the search term can't be found.) The article title matches below this
message do list the existing "Bird on the Wire" article so at least that's
working, but obviously I don't want users to be able to create a duplicate
article.
I guess maybe this is a bug in this older version of MediaWiki but I have to
use this version because my web hosts have PHP4.4.3 installed and I
understand later versions need PHP5.
Thanks,
Richard
I just got my first Wiki up and running ( http://www.puertovallartawiki.com
)
I would like to modify it now to meet my needs but I am having a bit of a
problem. I would like to change some of the links along the left side (Main
Page, Community portal, Current events, Recent changes, Random page, Help,
Donations) Search but I can not seem to find where to do that. Can anyone
point me to a tutorial or give me a quick over view on how to do this. I
have searched but come up with nothing.
Thanks

Hi,
I run a website based on Mediawiki. After I have upgraded from 1.5 to 1.7.1, users on my wiki can no longer talk on the pages!
Local settings have the following
$wgGroupPermissions['*' ]['read'] = true;
$wgGroupPermissions['*' ]['edit'] = false;
$wgGroupPermissions['*' ]['talk'] = true;
$wgGroupPermissions['user' ]['edit'] = false;
$wgGroupPermissions['user' ]['move'] = false;
$wgGroupPermissions['user' ]['talk'] = true;
$wgGroupPermissions['sysop']['edit'] = true;
#
// Implicit group for all visitors
$wgGroupPermissions['*' ]['createaccount'] = true;
$wgDisableAnonTalk = true;
# and also
$wgEmailAuthentication = true;
I know this is very limited information. If somebody can at least point in the right direction for checking for what is causing this ....
Thanks in advance
Hello all,
I am very new to hosting, let alone a Wiki, so please bear with me.
I went to http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:Deleteuser and began following the instructions as I need to be able to delete users from my Wiki. I created the directory required in step one, uploaded the three files into this directory as required by step 2, and edited LocalSetting.php by adding the line "require_once("extensions/Deleteuser/SpecialDeleteuser.php");", as required by step 3. As I have never installed the "Makesysop" extension I skipped step 4.
To the best of my knowledge, this was all that was required to install the extension. So I proceded to my Wiki to test the installand recieved the following error message upon entering my main page.
Warning: main(/home/conserv8/public_html/extensions/Deleteuser/../ExtensionFunctions.php) [function.main]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/conserv8/public_html/extensions/Deleteuser/SpecialDeleteuser.php on line 44
Fatal error: main() [function.require]: Failed opening required
'/home/conserv8/public_html/extensions/Deleteuser/../ExtensionFunctions.php' (include_path='/home/conserv8/public_html:/home/conserv8/public_html/includes:/home/conserv8/public_html/languages:.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/conserv8/public_html/extensions/Deleteuser/SpecialDeleteuser.php on line 44
I opened "SpecialDeleteuser.php" with my PHP editor and checked to see what line 44 contained. The following is from line 42 to 46.
42 # Register the special page
43 if ( !function_exists( 'extAddSpecialPage' ) ) {
44 require( dirname(__FILE__) . '/../ExtensionFunctions.php' );
45 }
46 extAddSpecialPage( dirname(__FILE__) . '/SpecialDeleteuser_body.php', 'Deleteuser', 'Deleteuser' );
Does anyone know what could be causing this problem?
Thanks a lot and forgive my large email!
Hello, I have a little question.
Does anyone knows where to modify the mediawiki so that the links don't
display tooltips?
Thanks in advance, sorry for my bad english.
