Hello,
here is what I've got so far: I've installed MediaWiki 1.8.2, put the CharInsert.php into the extension folder and added the line for it in LocalSettings.php. I've copied the source of http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/MediaWiki:Edittools into my MediaWiki:Edittools. It shows up on edit pages and I can click a letter into the edit frame.
But only the standard special characters show up. How do I get the JavaScript scroll list to work like the one on the German Wikipedia? If tried it with copying MediaWiki:Onlyifediting.js, MediaWiki:Monobook.js and MediaWiki:Copyrightwarning into my MediaWiki but non of it worked.
Thanks in advance
Phoenix

At the bottom of the pages on my wiki I have a hit counter that shows how many times an article have been viewed.
I have tried to browse the database to find these values but I was unable do do it.
Do you know which table in the database contains the hit value ?
I really like this mailinglist but I would prefer a webbased forum, phpbb2, vBulletin etc.
Do you know any official/unofficial mediawiki support forums ?
Hello,
I've got a database on a MySQL 4.0x installation which produces wrong
characters in a (current but non-beta as of today) MediaWiki
installation whenever German umlauts are used.
Currently, I'd like to avoid upgrading the MySQL version to 4.1.1+
(with which I could change the charsets using the alter database
command).
Since I can't use the alter database command my plan is to find out
which charset the database is set to and adjust the database data to
this charset with a newer version then re-import the modified data.
Is there a better way to make the umlauts display correctly?
Thanks,
Thomas
Hi,
I'm pretty sure I've seen somewhere that mediawiki allows a delimiter to
be placed at the beginning of a page to split the resume of the page
from the page itself.
Can someone tell me what this is called, and when to use it ?
Can this summary be displayed under each link in a category page for
example?
Thanks for your help

Good evening, Kasimir.
I thought of that and had earlier set index.php to executable, and it had
no beneficial effect. I just tried setting ALL php files to executable and
that didn't work either.
I don't have much experience with php but I do know that the horde and
turba applications, all php, don't require that the php scripts be set to
execute.
In any case, it didn't fix the problem... :-(
Thanks for the response...

Hi all,
Our small group has succesfully installed and managed a wiki: a number of our team's members are now actively using a wiki environment to create new documents concenrning their research lines.
As you surely can guess, it is a rather normal situation we are asked for DOC/RTF file containing our work for one or other reason. This is our situation now and here.
After browsing the available extensions that could helps us with this task I've found a PDF Export and a Open Office Export extensions. I'm guessing Open Office Export will probably solved our problem, but I am really far from understanding the actual situation.
So, please, could anybody help me to understand what is the actual state of usability of this Open Office Export extension?
I reached Organic Design wiki following several threads, but I am not able to understand the role of this site in the whole picture. And it is not clear to me if I must go into trouble waters by trying to install this extension on my system or I simply must copy and paste the content of the article in a FrameMaker new document and forget about trying to get a more reasonable path
Any help will be much appreciated!
Best regards,
Ricardo

Hello,
I need to put a square bracket `]` in the title
of a page of my wiki.
Of course I can't do that directly, otherwise
when I write a link to that page I'll have something
like [[ ...].. ]], and the parser will misunderstood
me.
I this page
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:How_to_edit_a_page
I can read i should use something like ]. I
can guess that 93 is the ASCII code for `]`, but
just putting ] instead of `]` didn't change
nothing.
How can I do?
Thankyou in advance.
Best regards,
Giovanni Gherdovich

Hi there,
sorr, I'm not too familiar with the terminology... But how do I remove
the part in front of the colon in page titles?
Like remove the "User:" in "User:Peter", or "Special:" in
"Special:Search" to just get "Peter" or "Search" as page titles?
Been looking for it myself, but didn't manage to find where that string
is being generated :(
Thanks for your quick help !

I'm making an extension for Edit Throttling which a lot of you would probably want when I'm done with it (so please, help me, hehe - I'm serious, this is a much wanted extension).
I'm trying to intercept when a logged-in user tries to Move a page. I've tried and am not able to do this. The present hook "TitleMoveComplete" 'occurs whenever a request to move an article is completed'. I'm looking for a hook that runs _before_ a move is made. The hook "Usercan" doesnt interrupt a move.
Any idea on how to go about this? I have to to find a way for monitor the move actions of Vandals. For example, if a user registers in a wiki newly, and starts moving 5 pages in 60 seconds, they should be blocked. This is part of what I'm trying to accomplish.
I have gotten the Edit part right. It stops the edits nicely (the hook I used there is "ArticleSave" and it works great).
Any help would be much appreciated as I'm practically on a dead-end now and ofcourse, do not want to have to edit the MW core code.
thanks
Eric
