test in monobook if a message page exists

Hi, I created a message page for some articles: My_Page --> MediaWiki:Head:My_Page I inserted the message in MonoBook.php <?php if($this->data['nscanonical'] == 0) $this->msgHtml('Head:'.$this->data['titleprefixeddbkey']); ?> But instead of being silent when there is no message page for an article, this code returns the name of the message page: the html is broken. How to test if the message page $this->msgHtml('Head:'.$this->data['titleprefixeddbkey']) exists so that nothing is displayed whatsoever when it doesn't exist? I tested a simple: if( ($this->data['nscanonical'] == 0) && ($this->msgHtml('Head:'.$this->data['titleprefixeddbkey'])) but it didn't change anything, which is not a surprise. Thank you for any hint. Fwd: Last modified date is always epoch

For a while it worked fine any saved articles 'last modified' date would match the date and time that change was made. For some reason unknown to me that stopped working. Now any changes to new and existing pages are replaced with a last modified date of '00:33, 1 January 1970' Interestingly enough any other time stamps that Mediawiki does are accurate, signatures etc. It seems that only last modified dates are stuck in epoch. I've check the servers time and it is correct, I've updated mediawiki to version 1.6.8 but so far have had no luck in eliminating the issue. Doing a search in google for "00:33, 1 January 1970" brings up a few other Mediawiki's with the same problem... http://www.google.com/search?q=%2200%3A33%2C+1+January+1970%22&ie=utf-8&oe=… However no matter how I've search I haven't found anyone who's reported this problem or a solution to it. NTLM auth for MW 1.8.2

Hi, I am trying to get an internal MediaWiki install to authenticate against our Windows domain controller but as of yet have been unable to do so. My MediaWiki version is 1.8. and is running on Ubuntu Linux 6.06, PHP 5.2.0, MySQL 5.0.22, and Apache 2.2.3. I am currently using NTLM authentication for apache authorization but I'd like to be able to pass this auth on through to MW if possible or use MW to do its own NTLM auth. Any help anyone can provide me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Dylan

Character set problems with wiki links after upgrade

When I upgraded to MW1.8.2. from MW1.5., all wiki links containing non-ascii characters became red. Navigation links in the left bar show up blue, but when I click them, I'm directed to a search MW-page. E.g. the single character "å" is represented as "%C3%A5" Can this character set issue be fixed in the data, Mysql, or by changing the settings in MW? -- Harald Groven ( harald (æ) groven . no )

Default content in new pages?

Cheers, I'm a MediaWiki-newbie and currently trying to set up a wiki as technical background for an online dictionary. In doing so, I am left with a question that I so far have not found any answer to. Is there any way to define default content for new wiki pages that the user CANNOT delete? That is, I'd like to introduce section headlines that should be contained in every document of the dictionary. Ideally, if the user starts a new page, he should see separate editor-windows below each section headline instead of on big editor window. If so far there is no way to realise this kind of thing in MediaWiki, can anyone tell me if there's a way I can change the PHP-code in order to reach my goal and point me to the right section of code in order to do so? substitution problem?

Hi all, This could be a limitation, my misunderstanding, and/or improvement to the help text at http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Help:Substitution Any thoughts? The idea was when creating a new page, one might want to create it with the following text, and have all information subst from each included template below it: {{ subst:Create Page Skeleton|John|Jane|Sally|Susi|...etc...}} Using a For loop inside of Create Page Skeleton, this should create a page with static content that has 4 modules on it, one for John, Jane, Sally, Susi. (If there were more parameters, it would create more modules.) I can't seem to get subst to work on the for loop and at each level thereafter. I can get it to work without subst. (Below is the working version without subst.) I've tried various (if not random at times) versions of optional (subst=subst:) and delayed (<noinclude>subst:</noinclude>) substitution but can't seem to make it work. Limitation or user error? Here is an example loop without using subst: Template:Create Page Skeleton contains:  Welcome to our page. Here are the modules for each person: {{ foreach/mypass1 |{{{1|@}}}|{{{2|@}}}|{{{3|@}}}|{{{4|@}}}|{{{5|@}}}...etc...{{{150|@}}} |v@= |c=Template:Module }}  Template:Module contains: {{ MyModuleHeader }}{{ {{FULLPAGENAME}}/{{{1}}} }}{{ MyModuleFooter }}  Template:foreach/mypass1 contains something like: {{{{{{{{v{{{1|}}}|c}}}|x0}}}|1={{{1}}}}}{{{{{{{{v{{{2|}}}|c}}}|x0}}}|1={{{2}}}}}{{{{{{{{v{{{3|}}}|c}}}|x0}}}|1={{{3}}}}}{{{{{{{{v{{{4|}}}|c}}}|x0}}}|1={{{4}}}}}{{{{{{{{v{{{5|}}}|c}}}|x0}}}|1={{{5}}}}}{{{{{{{{v{{{150|}}}|c}}}|x0}}}|1={{{150}}}}}  Template:x0 is empty Should the above example be able to work with delayed subst at all levels? Ascii Translit Extension

Hello, when article title contains non-ascii characters, they apear in URL as urlencoded (i.e. %C5%99 for 'r with caron'), which is not so easy to read. AsciiTranslitExtension allows you to use Ascii aproximation (or so called transliteration) in URL, and nonASCII in titles (at the same time). \binom and TeXvc. Bugfix?

Hello, I found that on my wiki TeXvc cannot render this LaTeX command <math>\binom{n}{k}</math> although the conversion system works well till now. After googling my problem I found this page: http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Help_talk:Displaying_a_formula#Texvc_updated… If you search "\binom", you can find the piece I read (section 57). It is said that somebody has corrected a bug where \binom was involved. Does anybody know more about this story? Orphaned Pages

I noticed that things don't get listed in Special:Lonelypages if they have an image on them. I realize this is a link to [[Image:SomePicture.jpg]] but shouldn't that really qualify as an orphaned page? Is this configurable at all? Thanks, ~Eric

Images Directory Protection

The Wiki I run is only for authorized users and requires authentication for access to *all* pages. But, one area that slipped in under my radar is the images directory. Has anyone done any work in the area of protecting that directory with HTTP AUTH and tying it in with MediaWiki authentication? Or, create an extension that will catch [[Media:]] links and serve the images/documents via PHP instead of linking directly to the iamges directory? Dan
