I have problem with one MW (1.6.8) installed on freehosting server. All works
perfectly, but the server adds about 20 pixels wide advertising bar to the
top of the page (the blue one), and it is covering the line with user login
and tools.
Does anybody know, how to shift all the MW page content little bit (about
20px) lower to go under this AD bar? I thing it could be pretty easy task in
changing something in monobook.css, but I absolutely don't know what to
change here.
Here is the named MW (it is not much fast as it is freehosting :-((

Thanks in advance

Hi all,
Well, I'd like to write a SpecialPage in which I'll list data from a
MySQL Table.
I'm able to do it if I use an external MySQL database ( not the one
where the wikidb is ) ... But when I try to query a table in a
database located on the same MySQL ( the one whet wikidb is ) ... I
get a php exception ...
So I had a look to the php code inside special pages provided by
MediaWiki ... And I've found that Special internal functions are
used ...
Please can somebody give me some informations about howto write a
simple request using $wgXXX functions ?
Pointing me to relevant documentation will be ok ... :D
Best Regards.
Hi there!
In the documentation I found an example for user login via LDAP:
--------8<--------8<--------8<--------8<--------8<--------8<---------
$wgHooks['UserLogin'][] = array('ldapLogin', $ldapServer);
$ldap['server']="ldaps://ldap.company.com/";
$ldap['port'] = 636;
$ldap['base'] = ",ou=Staff,dc=company,dc=com";
function ldapLogin($username, $password) {
global $ldap;
$auth_user="uid=".$username.$ldap['base'];
if($connect=@ldap_connect($ldap['server'],$ldap['port'])){
if($bind=@ldap_bind($connect, $auth_user, $password)){
@ldap_close($connect);
return(true);
}//if bound to ldap
else {
echo "Error on ldap_bind";
}
}//if connected to ldap
else {
echo "Error on ldap_connect";
}
@ldap_close($connect);
return(false);
}
--------8<--------8<--------8<--------8<--------8<--------8<---------
First of all, the example doesn't make sense to me because it calls
the function ldapLogin with one parameter, which is the LDAP server
name, but the function itself demands two parameters - login and
password. Secondly, I don't find the Hook UserLogin in the list of
available hooks.
What is this?
Cheers,
Inki

How about putting "{{:Special:Category}}" (or whatever your top-level
category page is) where you want them to appear?
Can't say I've tried it, but it might do something interesting...

Hi guys,
This is my first post, so please be gentle if I'm in the wrong place.
I just want to delete the article history log for my new wiki - all the changes I've made so far have been tests, random comments, etc. Can I get rid of the history before going live?
I've tried running the deleteOldRevisions.php script (that sounds right) and it seemed to work...
:~> php /usr/home/sites/aboutnlp.com/maintenance/deleteOldRevisions.php
Delete Old Revisions
Searching for active revisions...done.
Searching for inactive revisions...done.
345 old revisions found.
... but the history is still showing for all articles.
I've put the correct username/password in AdminSettings.php.
Have I missed something? Or is there another way?
All help welcome.
Chris
That problem is solved by adding the line $wgVerifyMimeType = false; but where are those uploaded images. I want the image to be displayed in my wiki page and write some text beside the image. Is it not possible using wiki?
How can I add an image into the wiki page?

Hi,
I am new to mediawiki. I am tring to upload an image in one of the page with [[Image:/opt/lampp/image.png]]...
I am getting an error message after saving that
File uploads are disabled on this wiki.
In my Localsettings.php file I added the lines
$wgGroupPermissions['*']['upload'] = true;
$wgGroupPermissions['sysop']['upload'] = true;
Still no use. Can some one help me please

Hello List,
I want to use MediaWiki. But I musst use MS-SQL or MSDE as Database.
Witch Files should ich change?
Or can I Download a mod?
MiSchn
PS: Sorry my english is not realy good! But i will do my best!
I want to make it so, when I click on an image on the Wiki, it can go to a specified URL or Interwiki link. Someone has explained how to do this using a template which has a DIV and the Template:Click is also available on Wikipedia:
http://mail.wikipedia.org/pipermail/mediawiki-l/2005-November/008512.html
But I'm wondering we should'nt we be able to create a link on the image using the regular way too - images are regularly linked to something on the WWW. Why not on Mediawiki? A syntax like the following would be nice:
[ Image:Myimage.jpg | link=http://www.cnn.com ] (spaces for ease of reading)
OR just:
[ Image:Myimage.jpg | http://www.cnn.com ], OR for the Interwiki link, ofcourse:
[ Image:Myimage.jpg | [[An Interwiki Link]] ]
What change can I make in the image parser to enable this functionality?
thank you
Erik
