Hi there,
I realised, that my MediaWiki 1.5.3 shows only a TOC if the article has more than 3 (sub)headlines.
Why that?
How can I change it?
Thanks to all

Betreff: [Mediawiki-l] [OT] Unable to search within an edit box in Firefox(solution)
Somewhat off-topic, but maybe another editor out there could use this tip.
This bug has plagued me for a very long time now, and so I finally
broke down and did a some searching. Through the hwll that is
bugzilla I finally found the right bug report:
http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=252371
And within it was the solution.. using an extension which reverts the
find functionality to the older, working, version:
http://s93731204.onlinehome.us/firefox/retrofind.html
So if any of you are bothered by not being able to search through your
page when you're editing, do check out that extension and visit the
bug report to vote on it.
For search and replace functionality, try the search text area
bookmarklet: http://wargers.org/home.hccnet.nl/bookmarklets/searchtextarea.htm
This is one of a bunch of things I need to insert into firefox to work
around various programmer choices.. but 1.5 is working nicely. I
think that this is the last outstanding issue I have with firefox.
I'm glad to be able to do regular editing again, without resorting to
an external editor just for searching. =p

We're using MW 1.4.7 for an internal docs site and now we find we need to
split off a sizable chunk into it's own wiki (different user population).
I searched the FAQ but didn't see anything specific. Is there a "magic"
way of doing this? I don't see copying and pasting all the content being
do-able ...

Due to rising levels of spam on mediawiki-l and wikitech-l, I've set the lists
to automatically discard all non-subscriber posts, as has been previously done
on wikipedia-l and wikien-l.
With a ratio of something like 50 mortgage & viagara spams to each "forgot to
subscribe before asking a question" post, it's rather time-consuming. :(
As always, if you want to read through the web archives or news gateway, you can
disable direct mail delivery when you subscribe.

I also have this problem where many of my images, which exist in my images directory, do not appear. My image gallery shows only 1 of the first 48 images; the other image gallery pages are more complete but missing some images and pages which reference them contain Image: text instead of images/thumbnails. I can't identify a pattern: some of the missing files are jpg, some are png, yet other jpg and png images work fine. Some images which are stored in in wiki/images/4/4e appear, others do not, although they have the same file permissions. If I view the http://host:/wiki/Image:CodePro_Collaboration_Server_Preferences.png image page, the image does not appear but the link to the raw image, i.e. http://host/wikifiles/images/4/4a/CodePro_Collaboration_Server_Preferences.… does appear.
In my case, I have a dev and a prod version of MediaWiki. The prod version is running 1.4.12 and the dev version is running 1.5.5. I successfully installed 1.4.5 and loaded by database into it's MySQL server and copied the images folder in its entirety. I modified my LocalSettings.php accordingly, and most of the 1.5.5 wiki works (including skins, my site logo, the EditPage button images), with the exception some of these images. Most images do work.
I could try uploading them again, but I'd rather help identify the root cause and fix it.
Any thoughts on what else to look for?

LDAP = Database = Oracle
Lots of companies use LDAP authentication and as such a lot of people
want to integrate the wiki logon with LDAP data.
This sounds like exactly what you want just with an Oracle database.
I have never done this before so I can't really offer any more advice
apart from saying the answer is in the archives.

Hi,
I have quick question.
Sorry to keep bugging you.
I am not that great with this LDAP connection and what it really does.
How does this apply to the question that I've asked?
My initial thought was that, correct me if I am wrong, I need to make
connection to Oracle database somewhere. Then get the user information
and
set it as user session/cookie using functions that is
built in Media Wiki somwhere, which I have to find where that is...
Am I approaching it wrong?
Thanks.

I am searching into it right now, but it seems like it is so hard to
find
for each year's archive.
Is there any other way to get some idea?
Or if you were in my situation, what would be your call?

The mailing list archive isn't the easiest thing to use (or even find)
but it will contain full code for LDAP integration which could be used
as a guide for making an Oracle "connector".

I imagine this will be similar to LDAP integration; you should search
the mailing list archives for that as there have been numerous threads
about it.

Hi everyone,
I am new to this mailing list. Please bare with my explanation and if
any
one can give me a suggestion or direction, it would be really
appreciated.
Here is a problem that I am encountered with.
Currently, I am builing a media wiki in my company's intranet site with
version 1.53.
What I have to do is that I need to use user information from Oracle at
login.
All other data, such as user's post, reply, and other user interacted
materials will be stored in MySql.
How should I proceed this? I have no clue where to start.
All the db handle codes are depended to each other strictly for MySql
and it
seems like there is no way that I can adjust the code to implement the
Oracle db interaction.
Does anyone has any idea?
Thank you for your time.
Regards,
Young
