When trying to install, I get the following error:
Checking environment...
Fatal error: Call to undefined function: install_version_checks() in
/home/blitzne/public_html/psychoactive/config/index.php on line 199
Also, I had to go to wiki/config/index.php manually, as I wasn't redirected from
/wiki/index.php, if that's how it's supposed to work. Any help will be greatly
appreciated. Thanks! :)
I'm using mediawiki on a site that employs three other web apps that
require authentication. I'm trying to write a register script that will
insert the desired authentication and profile data into all 3 apps'
databases at the same time, so that users won't have to register 3
separate times. I've got it working on both of the other apps, but
mediawiki says that the username doesn't exist when I can clearly see it
in the table. I think it has something to do with my values of "" that
I'm putting in the user_token and/or user_touched fields. I did this for
testing purposes simply because I didn't know what was supposed to go
there. What are these fields and what should I put there? Or is there
something else I'm not aware of that could be causing this? user_touched
looks like a date in the format YYYYMMDDHHSSMM. is that correct?

Hello,
Although the abcTajpu extension for Firefox, offers facilities to
include non latin characters or accented letters, it is still far from
giving a complete map of unicode characters. I believe a trans-cultural
tool such as mediawiki could work on providing something to help the
inclusion of words or expressions from other languages or writing systems.
So here is my try. I include an iframe in the EditPage.php. A little
dropdown let the editor choose which language he wants to see. I think
it could easily be improved with Alan Woods pages of unicode mapping,
and maybe a little bit of javascript to automatise the inclusion of
characters. I believe a link could also be made in each language page,
toward free fonts for this unicode section (windows, linux and Mac)
QUESTION: The language pages are static files, not wiki pages. I first
tried to do this with inclusion of "raw" wiki pages. Unfortunately, the
didn't work, because my browser always asked for download of the file.
If anyone could tell me how to adapt the "raw" feature, it would allow
the iframe to be build from normal wiki pages

Only Talk pages are editable (yes, my wiki is a test and hazardous tool :-)

Just type a nickname and a password in the login page, it'll do.

Yes.
function legalSearchChars() {
return "A-Za-z_'*0-9\\x80-\\xFF\\-";
}
It looks like this string is treated as a class in a regular expression in the
filter function.
It would be more practical to parameterize this is DefaultSettings.php for
those who wish to modify without changing code.
Let me know if you encounter any side affects.

Hello,
i've 2 questions about latex and <math>
how can i set the font size if my math-code is rendered as HTML (the HTML-rendered text looks very small (you hardly can read it) and the PNG rendered text looks very fat, see http://84.244.5.11/wiki/index.php/Bayern/Gymnasium/10/Chemie/Grundwissen10).
And is it possible to add characters like ä,ü,ö ?

From: Prodos (Melbourne, Australia)
Greetings.
I've followed the instructions at:
http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Preventing_Access
... which prevents a new user from creating an account
but which should still allow me as admin to create a
new account, but I just can't make it work.
Here are the instructions that I've been following from
http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Preventing_Access
- -
In order to prevent new user registrations, the following line could be
added to the LocalSettings.php file:
$wgWhitelistAccount = array ( "sysop" => 1, "developer" => 1 );
Note: New users will still be able to be created by sysops, in the
following manner:
Go to [[Special:Userlogin]], when logged in as a sysop.
Enter a username and an email address, and click the "by email" button.
The account will be created with a random password which is then emailed
to the given address.
- - -
However, when I do all this I just get a note in red saying:
"You have not specified a valid user name."
What does this mean, please?
I would greatly appreciate any help or suggestions regarding this
problem.
Many thanks.
Best Wishes,
PRODOS

I have a MediaWiki installation running on an intranet, and I believe
it's a version of 1.3.x
I would like to upgrade this to the latest stable version, 1.4.10
I need some hand holding with this. If anyone here can help, I would be
grateful.
The last time my company attempted to upgrade our installation (from
1.3.x to 1.3.10) we got the following errors. Note the "755 invalid

I suspect, but am not sure, that the invalid titles errors are the
result of our renaming the "Wikipedia:" article namespace to "Metaweb:"
in our installation.
We're running a very old version, and I have to say, the latest version
is so much better in terms of display and admin features.
If anyone could help walk me through this upgrade, I would greatly
appreciate it.

I've ran through the MediaWiki 1.4.9 install process which completed OK. However, when I now try any of the following links on the newly created Wiki Main Page I get a "Page cannot be displayed" browser error (IE6).

Thank you for Maurice Joseph, Wolfgang and Andrew.
I have change the SearchMySQL4.php with follow line:
Include next function with plus and star:
function legalSearchChars() {
return "A-Za-z_'0-9\\x80-\\xFF\\-+*";
}
And delete the line
# if( $this->strictMatching && ($terms[1] == '') ) {
# $terms[1] = '+';
# }
in the function function parseQuery( $filteredText, $fulltext )
Now the search function have the same syntax of MySQL.
Also, see http://dev.mysql.com/doc/mysql/en/fulltext-boolean.html for
details
about full text sql queries in MySQL.
The better way, i write a new class with this changes and its coming soon
in this mailling-list.

Hi Maurice,
Looks really useful, do we place the "*" in this function:
function legalSearchChars() {
return "A-Za-z_'0-9\\x80-\\xFF\\-";
}
If so where and how, otherwise, which one please.
Thanks,
Andrew

how?
Did a little experimenting on my local install and here's my findings. Note,
I'm using mysql db.
Enabling the following debug flags helps display the pertinent content:
$wgDebugComments = true;
$wgDebugDumpSql = true;
Under ../includes/SearchMySQL.php contains the following function:
function searchText( $term ) {
$resultSet = $this->db->resultObject( $this->db->query( $this->getQuery(
$this->filter( $term ), true ) ) );
return new MySQLSearchResultSet( $resultSet, $this->searchTerms );
}
Basically, filter() (in SearchEngine.php) defines what is a legal character.
Modify this constant to allow '*'. Now wildcards matches work.
Also, see http://dev.mysql.com/doc/mysql/en/fulltext-boolean.html for details
about full text sql queries in MySQL.
