Ok, this suggests a new problem. I have a virtual directory running
which eliminates the index.php in mediawiki URLs.
So my files are located:
http://www.350z-tech.com/wiki/
But my urls are:
http://www.350z-tech.com/zwiki/
I cannot put the sitemap in a virtual directory.
The links generated by the sitemap show the virtual directory.
I have a separate sitemap running for my forums which is in the /forums
directory.
Google says the sitemap is OK, but there is really no way of knowing if
it is actually crawling the links!

I am afraid you are wrong
An extract from Google's site.
"You must place the completed Sitemap in the highest directory that you
would like Google to crawl. Generally, this is the root directory.
Google
can only accept URLs contained in your Sitemap that are the same
directory
level or lower. For instance, if you place your Sitemap in
www.example.com/foo/, Google will not be able to accept www.example.com/
as
a URL in your Sitemap"

Google will index all pages on your site that it can find. The only
purpose
of the sitemap is to help Google find and index them quickly and
efficiently. It also helps Google to know how often the pages change,
so it
can schedule a re-crawl appropriately.

Where does the sitemap specification say that Google will only index
pages at or below the level of the sitemap? Even so, I have had no
trouble with Google indexing the Case Wiki

This tutorial works insofar as it adds a new special page to my list
of special pages, but when you try to GO to the special page it
doesn't exist...
Does anyone see a problem in the tutorial? It seems like it should work to me...
http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Writing_a_new_special_page
It appears to be indexing all the pages.

You just need the first page; Google can then find the rest on its own.
The one problem you do have is that the sitemap needs to be in the root
of
the site i.e. http://www.350z-tech.com/wiki/googleSiteMap.php.
The sitemap specifications say that it can only index pages in the same
directory as the sitemap file is in; if you leave it where it is it will
only index pages starting http://www.350z-tech.com/wiki/extensions/

Your sitemap is working perfectly; the page you see is an index page
linking
to the actual pages containing the sitemap.

I have tried using your google sitemaps extension, with no luck. I get
the following error:

Can you explain what I have done wrong?

Hello,
I have read all mediawiki pages, that talk about searching in mediawiki.
Can you tell me how to enable a substring-search in mediawiki 1.5rc4?
When i write in the search box "austin" , then the software found the word,
but when i write
"austi*", the last character replace to a wildcard, then the software found
nothing.
The Database MYSQL 4.1.13 find the string in the searchindex table (tested
with my own select). I have checked the
query with logging and in the query is no wildcard. The searchengine has
delete the wildcard .
In the software of Wikipedia is working correct.
What must i do, then the software is working correct?
Thank you for your time and help.

I'm getting inifinite redirects from all 6 wiki's on my host (Vortech). Of
course, the host says there isn't a problem. Everything was working fine
until last night then they all started doing this. A few of these haven't
been changed at all in months. Any ideas on what's going? I don't know what
to tell the host to look into. Interesting that 1.4 acts a slightly
different then the 1.5 versions.

I have 6 mediawiki's on the mudabone.com <http://mudabone.com> account with
Vortech. 5 of these are version 1.5 and one is version 1.4. Everything has
been working fine until last night. Now, all the 1.5 wiki's are doing
infinite redirects. What changed? Any ideas?
urls:
http://mudabone.com/wiki/index.php - 1.4 works (but only the first page -
clicking any of the links goes into infinite redirect mode)

If you use phpMyAdmin (http://www.phpmyadmin.net), it would be very easy to
update the email address in the MySQL table. PhpMyAdmin makes administering
the mediawiki database very easy.
