Hi all,
I was on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Database, and I'm just curious,
which version of mediawiki is running this page. I like information
about other languages at left side under toolbox, great idea!
Hi guys,
Back to the ldap question again.... this is what I've done.
Extracted the following files to my wiki folder
1) authplugin.php
2) language.php
3) ldapauthentication.php
4) specialuserlogin.php
5) user.php
6) userlogin.php
Of the above the only changes I made were to the
lpadauthentication.php
if ( $wgLDAPUseSSL ) {
$serverpre = "ldaps://";
} else {
$serverpre = "ldap://";
}
I inserter the IP address of my ldap server into the above code.
Next I pasted the following code into the localsettings.php file ( after
entering the information for domain, server and search string )
require_once( 'LdapAuthentication.php' );
$wgAuth = new LdapAuthenticationPlugin();
$wgLDAPDomainNames = array(
"testADdomain","testLDAPdomain"
);
$wgLDAPServerNames = array(
"testADdomain"=>"testADserver.example.com",
"testLDAPdomain"=>"testLDAPserver.example.comtestLDAPserver2.example.com"
);
$wgLDAPSearchStrings = array(
"testADdomain"=>"TDOMAIN\\USER-NAME",
"testLDAPdomain"=>"uid=USER-NAME,ou=people,dc=example,dc=com"
);
$wgLDAPUseSSL = true; //Recommended!!
$wgLDAPUseLocal = true; //Allow the use of the local database as well as
the LDAP database
$wgMinimalPasswordLength = 1; #If using mediawiki 1.5. Note: 1 is the
minimum, feel free to go higher
//The following are for use in version 0.8+
$wgLDAPAddLDAPUsers = true; //if true WikiDN and WikiPassword must be
set
$wgLDAPUpdateLDAP = true; //if true WikiDN and WikiPassword must be set
These last 2 variables I did not feed information into... any idea what
they do? I just want to be able to extract username and password
information of my ldap server to authenticate users , not to allow them
to make changes on the ldap server.
$wgLDAPWikiDN = "uid=priviledgedUser,ou=people,dc=example,dc=com";
//Please use a user with limited access, NOT your directory manager
$wgLDAPWikiPassword = "{SHA}KqYKj/f81HPTIeAUav2eJt85UUc="; //You are
able to use clear text passwords, but please try not to
After I completed the above mentioned steps I tried accessing the wiki.
Now even my old user name ( on the wiki DB) does not allow me to login.
I get a blank page ).
Would appreciate any help I can get with this.... as you can see I'm
stuck..
Thanks,
AJ

_database.3F
Set $mgReadOnlyFile in CommonSettings.php to the name of a file, then
put the reason for the lock inside the file. The contents of the file
will be displayed to anyone trying to edit the wiki.
Note that readonlyfile is not guaranteed to be absolutely safe; if you
need to guarantee that MediaWiki will never write to the data, you need
to do this on the database itself (e.g. revoke UPDATE,INSERT,DELETE from
the wiki user, or put MySQL into read-only mode).

Subject: [Mediawiki-l] Locking the Database
How do you lock the database from edits, like the en.wikipedia.org is at
the
moment?
I am sure it's just a setting in the default settings file but I can't
find
it
Is it also possible to lock the database from one of the options in the
special name space or from some ware else in on the website?
Thanks
Arthur

I have some domains and all are pointing to the mainpage of a wiki.
I like to have one domain pointing to another side in the same wiki.
I tried to redirect the domain with
/index.php/new side
or only
/new side
and also the whole URL
http://www.mariposa-arche.org/index.php/die_Arche
but it doesn't.
Thanks for any help

hi,
I've just installed mediawiki-1.5beta1 and I've got
some problem using the email notification.
When I click "Mail me a new password" in the login
page it says:
"Error sending mail: Failed to connect to mailserver
at "localhost" port 25, verify your "SMTP" and
"smtp_port" setting in php.ini or use ini_set()"
I don't know php.ini nor ini.set() (and I can't find
them)so it doesn't help much.
I checked the Enotif page and I'm aware I need "a
working php mail() in my server" but I just don't know
how to do it....
Anybody could help?
thx
Julien

This is a technical question... the Wikipedia upgrade appears to have been
going on for around 9 hours at this point. So that I can factor this into
my wiki maintenance plan, what's taken so long? Was there a database schema
change or other database transformation? Is it the sheer size of the
database dumps? Were there unforeseen problems? Is it the distributed
configuration of Wikipedia?
Would love to know...
