Hi,
another weird problem with my upgraded MW 1.4 installation (from 1.3).
Pages that contain an Ampersand no longer show up. Whenever I click
on a link to that page, it strips the page title beginning from the
Ampersand resulting in an unknown page name.
This installation runs on a computer and database setup that
succesfully hosts the old 1.3 version where ampersands are not a
problem.
Any hints what this might be?
Greetings

hello,
I am trying to configure my system to use the email
notification. Apache, MySql, PHP and MyPHPAdmin have
been installed by EasyPHP...
I set the variables 'smtp' and 'sendmail_from' in
php/php.ini and '$wgSMTP' in
www/mediawiki/localsettings.php.
In the login page of the wiki, when I fill the "user
name " textbox and click on the "mail me a new
password" button I've got the following error:
---------------------------------------------------
Warning: usermailer(Mail.php): failed to open stream:
No such file or directory in
h:\easyphp\www\mediawiki\includes\UserMailer.php on
line 54
Fatal error: usermailer(): Failed opening required

in h:\easyphp\www\mediawiki\includes\UserMailer.php on
line 54
-----------------------------------------------------
It seems that my system is missing "mail.php" but I
don't know where to get it and how to install it. I've
read in the Enotif documentation that Pear should not
be used. I don't know what is Pear but it has been
installed by easyphp. Shall I remove it, or replace it
by another package to get this "mail.php"?
any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hello,
I am keeping a static offline copy of my wiki with the help of wget.
Each and every page is downloaded every time I make a snapshot. This
is alright for now, because the wiki is rather small, but it's not
optimal.
I have looked at the HTTP headers mediawiki is sending back. About
10% of the pages are served with NO Last-modified header. The rest all
carry a Last-modified header that is always set to the current time,
making it impossible for wget to know that the page in question has not
changed.
This happens for both the anonymous user (for whom User:loadDefaults
should be setting mTouched to 0) and for a real user whose lastTouched
column is days ago.
I have looked through the code and I can't figure out why this is
happening. As far as I can tell, the Last-modified header is being set
to the maximum of the User:mTouched value and the cur_touched column.
Both are smaller than the present.
Thank you in advance!
Juan
Resized images are not visible...why?!
I can upload and display images, but resized images are not shown (as thumbs
or with fixed size parameter). I have all image directories set to
read/write (777), GD library version 2.x installed and the following
settings in "LocalSettings.php":
$wgEnableUploads = true;
$wgUseImageResize = true;
# $wgUseImageMagick = true;
# $wgImageMagickConvertCommand = "/usr/bin/convert";
$wgHashedUploadDirectory = false;
Anything wrong with this? Or what else can be missing?
Thanks for all help with this!
Mike
Hi,
I installed a couple of fresh and upgraded MW 1.4.5 wikis and all
share a common failure: I can't find anything using the search field.
Other 1.3 wikis running on the very same MySQL server do not suffer
from that problem. Once I upgrade them, they are affected too.
There is no error message (just "no results") and no hint on any
reason. Rebuilding the searchindex didn't change anything.
Any hints what this might be?
Greetings
Tim

Set $wgReadOnlyFile='/locked' in LocalSettings.php and then make a file
called /locked with some text in it. Then, when you go to Edit a page,
it will show your text at the top of the page and won't allow regular
users to edit the page.

Sorry for all the questions I just want to learn how everything works
before
I launch my Wiki site.
How does the $wgReadOnlyFile command works?
I have tried setting $wgReadOnlyFile to true, false and a file name and
nothing happens.
If it is a file does it have to be a specific type and where is it
stored.
Thanks again

Trust the FAQ to be typo free...
It should be $wgReadOnlyFile in LocalSettings.php. I've updated the FAQ
to reflect that as well.

Set $mgReadOnlyFile in CommonSettings.php to the name of a file, then
put the reason for the lock inside the file. The contents of the file
will be displayed to anyone trying to edit the wiki.
Note that readonlyfile is not guaranteed to be absolutely safe; if you
need to guarantee that MediaWiki will never write to the data, you need
to do this on the database itself (e.g. revoke UPDATE,INSERT,DELETE from
the wiki user, or put MySQL into read-only mode).

How do you lock the database from edits, like the en.wikipedia.org is at
the
moment?
I am sure it's just a setting in the default settings file but I can't
find
it
Is it also possible to lock the database from one of the options in the
special name space or from some ware else in on the website?
Thanks

After re-installing my database last night I have got a problem with the
search index, when ever I make a change to a page the change gets made but
the search index returns the following error.
A database query syntax error has occurred. This may indicate a bug in the
software. The last attempted database query was:
(SQL query hidden)
from within function "SearchUpdate::doUpdate". MySQL returned error "1034:
Incorrect key file for table 'searchindex'; try to repair it
(192.168.7.17)".
Retrieved from "http://www.wikiav.com/wiki/WikiAV:Sandbox"
I ran a check on the database server and is saw the problem, I ran a repair
and then checked it again, the problem seemed to have gone.
When I tried the Wiki page again I got the same database error, I checked,
repaired and checked the table again, the problem then occurred again.
Is this a problem with MediaWiki or MySQL?
Could one of the Wiki pages have become corrupted?
Thanks
