Looking at the few places it spits out "Run me from the command line
please." it is checking the connection to make sure it is command line.
Ideas???
Mein erstes Anliegen:
Im Moment habe ich 4 versch. wikis.
Alle sind so konfiguriert:
$wgSharedUploadPath = 'http://www.xx.ch/common/wiki/images';
# Path on the file system where shared uploads can be found
$wgSharedUploadDirectory = '/home/xx/public_html/common/wiki/images';
# Set this to false especially if you have a set of files that need
to be
# accessible by all wikis, and you do not want to use the hash (path/
a/aa/)
# directory layout.
$wgHashedSharedUploadDirectory = true;
$wgSharedUploadDBname = 'xxx_wikiartikel';
$wgUploadPath = "http://www.xx.ch/common/wiki/images";
$wgUploadDirectory = "/home/xxx/public_html/common/wiki/images";
so weit so gut.

Hi,
I want to add and update menu options in Clean.php skin. The skin was downloaded from http://wiki.kevcom.com/wiki/Clean_Skin.
I found follo: lines of code which I believe creates the menu options:
// Navigation links
foreach ($this->data['nav_urls'] as $key => $item) {
$href = htmlspecialchars($item['href']);
$text = strtolower(htmlspecialchars(
$this->translator->translate($key)));
if ($key == "upload" && $isEnglish)
$text = "upload files";
$link = "<a href='$href'>$text</a>";
if ($key == "help")
$helpLink = $link;
if ($key == "recentchanges")
$recentLink = $link;
if ($key == "upload")
$uploadLink = $link;
if ($key == "specialpages")
$specialLink = $link;
if ($key == "recentchangeslinked")
$relatedLink = $link;
}
I also found that function showMenu(menuID, parentID, alignment) is called with options.
My skin drop down options are different. Hence how do I find the definition of $this->data['nav_urls']. Where do I learn more on $this->data please?
Thank you,
Piyush
I have a simple WGET script running now to extract Wiki's once they get to a
stage that we want.
However, the links don't update and fix themselves appropriately and was
wondering if someone is trying to do the same and maybe go some kind of hack
working. All I am trying to do is export to static html, have the links
inside update and keep the metadata.
Thanks
Joshua
Hi,
since this is a very important topic for us I repeat my question(s) here.
P.S.:
If these questions are too stupid:
(How) Can I do a full text search of the whole mailing list archive?
===================================================
Is there a official of half-official way to rename a user _name_ ?!
Because:
We have to use an external user database with existing (about) 2000 users.
With the first logon at our wiki a user record will be created with the name taken from the external table (using AuthPlugin.php)
Only now we realized that there were "bad" user names, e.g. "X0456" (formerly only a logon name - in MW a apparent name) or "kilroy" (first letter in lower case). Those user names are already in use with a lot of creatings/changes of articles.
Furthermore in this external database a UserID (number) is used - and copied into the MW user table too.
Now we have two situations that claim renaming username:
a) The user wants to do so (because of senseless user name). In that case we could suppress this feature for the future in our external application, but if would be nice to have it.
b) Admins want to do so (because of user names with underscores in the name or first letter in lower case already in the MW user table...)
The way _I_ see is: changing all xyz_user_text fields in all MW tables and rename/redirect the user page article.
1. Would that be stable?
2. Is there a way to do so transparently from the MW surface (for admins only)?
3. The function getCanonicalName in AuthPlugin.php can change the user name gotten from external.
Is this change persistant in that way that a new created user record would get the "munged" user name?

Thanks.

Hi,
is there a way to add images to the database without uploading them?
Because I have massive problems bypassing save mode I upload image files by hand.
But I cannot use [Image ...]. What can I do to use [Image ...] with these images?
Thanks, Martin

I'd like to get rid of some of the pages in my wiki. I've spent about an hour RTFMing around in the docs, can't seem to find the answer. Or is the philosophy to never delete anything? Even if this is the case, seems like the user guide should have an entry "Deleting Wiki pages: Just don't."
I guess I could use mysql to delete them directly from the db, but I bet it would be easy to make a ghastly mess.

I have customized some parts of the monobook skin on my wiki -
www.wikihardware.com
However, whilst things appear quite normal with IE, with Firefox, the left
sidebar isn't correctly placed (placed too far down). Does anyone know a
solution to this problem?
Is there any tool to delete all the pages on the data-base having been
written by a given User ?
I think it is the easiest way to recover vandalized pages, is that true ?
On the data base, I cannot find out were are the pages.
Could you tell me ?
Thanks

It would appear that the index file for the user_groups table has
been deleted or has wrong permissions.

If you run myisamchk from a shell prompt, it should tell you it can't
access the table.

Tell them you're not using third-party software; tell them you have a
database table called "user_groups" that has a problem. Don't mention
MediaWiki at all -- it's an MySQL problem!
If you're lucky, they can fix that file's permissions. If you're
slightly less lucky, they may restore it from a recent backup. There
may be a way of re-creating it if the corresponding .MYD and .FRM
files are intact.
If the file is simply gone, consider some other service provider!
