sometimes i even got a blank page, when i viewed the sourcepage, the content
just conained: <html><body></body></html>
i only used IE 6.0 sp2 and Firefox 1.0.7 testing my web site, because my web
is a Chinese site, so, I don't know wether it's UTF-8 or mysql or php's
issue.
there is my server configuration
PHP Version 4.4.1-dev
Mysql 4.1.13
Apache/2.0.54 (Unix)
but there is a curious situation, when i used a proxy software, the IE
broswer performed better due to the low net-speed, them i could see the
</body></html> at the end of a page.
my web url is http://wiki.tooyu.com, thanks for your help.
if you please to give me some links or suggestion.

Ok, here's a different type of query.
I need to input a lot of unrelated text as paragraphs units (factoids) and
be able to easily tag keywords in the text and to tag portions of the text
with keywords. I've considered installing a local wiki and using the
linking to quickly create articles for each keyword and then using the
"What links here" to see what text references certain keywords in order to
build new text from the old, in different arrangements.
I don't do my own hosting, so I'm not anxious to spend a day or two
installing another wiki instance, and don't want to use my existing wiki
for the purpose.
There must be an easier way, does anyone know of one? I looked at the
indexing features in Microsoft Word, but that is more cumbersome, and
doesn't provide the convenience of hyperlinking. I might do it as a
database in Access, but creating the keywords would be a lot of extra
typing, unless I tag the original text and build some code to strip the
tags for final display. Or I could just use wiki tags, copy and paste the
final text to a temp wiki page, and then copy and "paste unformatted" to
strip the linking tags.... A database would have the advantage of being
able to flag portions of text as used so I don't duplicate...

I can't seem to find how to change the width of the text area that
appears under the toolbar icons in Safari (the one with the "Click a
button to get an example text" text). Apparently it doesn't appear
under FireFox, but I need to change the width of it for Safari users.
What element am I trying to select for the CSS?
Thanks in advance.

Hello,
When upgrading from version mediawiki 1.3.7 to 1.4.11, I am loosing
pages (for example the main page is missing).
I studied the hints given in the following page:
http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Upgrade_from_1.3_to_1.4
But there is given no information about troubleshooting.
Even worse, if I try to upgrade from 1.3.7 to 1.5, I have a lot of
trouble with the latin-1 coding. I tried to recode de database with
recode, but got errors.
Can anybody give hints how to get better results? I have no command
line, so I have to use the install wizard (via browser).
Thanks! Markus
hi, I have two new quetions: I changed the text in the text for the
image upload in the file Language_de.php and uploaded it, but I can't
see the changes on the page Spezial:Upload... I deleted all cookies and
the cache but nothing did happen :(
the other question is: My wiki is on de.domain... I have another wiki on
en.domain.. how can I link between those sites? I tried it with
[[en:]]... that failed. Thanks for helping me :)

I'm trying to install MediaWiki 1.5.0 on IIS 6, PHP5, and MySQL 5.0, using
config/index.php install helper, however I get the following error:
Initialising "MediaWiki" namespace...
A database error has occurred

(page_id,page_namespace,page_title,page_counter,page_restrictions,page_is_redirect,page_is_new,page_random,page_touched,page_latest)

I don't know much about MySQL, but from what I've been able to decipher
about the error message, it saying that there's no value specified for the
field 'page_len'? But 'page_len' doesn't even seem to be in the list of
created fields. A query into the database shows that nothing lives in the
'page'.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks,

Host it on MacOS X, using the excellent port from Pixelglow Software
(http://www.pixelglow.com/graphviz) which uses the MacOS X Quartz
rendering engine!
