Source code for en.wikipedia.org?

There are some very nice features on http://en.wikipedia.org, like the different template or the customized special pages (like the Search page which lists the search results in a different fashion, and the UserLogin page which has a prettier UI). Since I'm new to wiki and php, and really like the enhancement done on wikipedia.org, is there a way I can look at the customized source code for wikipedia.org or other wiki projects like wikinews? Stupid about skins

Hi, I tried to read the "voluminous" articles about skins. After treatment by my dummy brain that gives : 1. On distant wiki Done : $wgDefaultSkin = "cologneblue"; OK : CologneBlue for welcome page http://wikisic.ouvaton.org/wiki/index.php/Accueil not OK : no skin when loged in ; example user Fred Password fred 2. On localhost wiki Done : $wgAllowUserJs = true; $wgAllowUserCss = true; $wgDefaultSkin = "myskin"; Result : no skin nowhere Thanks in advance for help. Graph

Special:Log for namespaces

hi there, i'm using a wiki as community platform and also as teaching aid. for this reason i separated the two parts by introducing a "Teaching" namespace. now i have the problem that Special:Log doesn't show any logging information on that namespace... is there a way to include user defined namespaces or get a different log page only for a specific namespace? thanks, iWolf

1.5 underline option - browser setting problem

I just installed 1.5 and notice the links were now underlined, overriding the browser settings. That was fixed by a user preference change. When trying to change the site default for new anonymous users I was able to set it to "Never" or "Always" but had a problem when setting it to "Browser Setting". It acted like the "Never" option instead. To make the change I added the following line in LocalSettings.php: $wgDefaultUserOptions['underline'] = 2; I guessed by looking at some code that 0=Never, 1=Always, and 2=Browser Setting. Is this documented anywhere? When using 2 as the setting and creating a new user the default did show as "Broswer Setting" in the Misc Preference but it still wouldn't underline the links even with the browser set to underline. I have tried multiple times by resetting the cache and with control-shift R (in Mozilla) but it still doesn't underline. It change from underline to non-underline fine when I changed between Never (0) and Always (0) so I don't think it is a cache problem. Does anyone else have this problem or know a fix? Tim

Restricting Page Moves

On Wikipedia they say they have restricted page moves to users with 25 edits or more (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Vandalism - under "Page Move Vandalism") however, I can't find any more information relating to how they did that. For the wiki I am working on I would like to be able to disable page moves by regular users totally or make this number ridiculously high (in effect permenantly disabling it). Can anyone point me in the right direction for this? Thanks, Bryan

Mediawiki 1.5 and LDAP Authentication

I have installed Mediawiki 1.5 and would like to authenticate to OpenLDAP. I have already looked at this link for details. http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/LDAP_Authentication I have basically taken the LdapAuthentication.php file and dropped it in the include directory of mediawiki. I have taken the code provided (from the link above) and pasted it into the localsettings.php I have provided the parameters required in the localsettings.php file. i.e. ldap server, blah, blah, blah... I attempt to login with a username/password that is in LDAP only, not on the local DB , and I get this error message. "The password you entered is incorrect (or missing). Please try again." Note: I'm using a clear text password. Is there something l am missing? Thanks. Lou

It sounds more like a worm than a bot! It would slow the creation of users down though. You could auto block an IP it tries to create 3 accounts in an hour with a message to contact you if this is infact a legitimate person trying to create an account. That would stop the bot from being able to creating more than 3 accounts per ip. You can also log this information and auto generate a script to remove these accounts created from an IP that has been banned.
