$wgScript _must_ point at index.php, i.e.:
$wgScriptPath = "/wiki";
$wgScript = "$wgScriptPath/index.php";
$wgArticlePath = "/$1";
Kate.
I have just upgraded my site from 1.3.6 to 1.4beta, and it now become
way slower than before. Page generation time is ok (0.2s), however it
takes around 30 seconds for the page to displayed after it is
downloaded. It is the same slow even if the site is accessed from
localhost. It looks like that it's page rendering that takes most of
the time, or time to download .js and .css files. I tried on both IE
and Firefox and the results are the same, and my computer is a highend
one.
Is there anybody else getting the same problem? And is there any
workaround for it?
Chinh
I have downloaded Diderot wikiwriter, however all I get is a GUI. Does the software work?
If not, is there anything out there that does - i.e. is there a Client-side offline browser and WYSIWYG editor?
If not, is there anyone out there who is interested to guide me find a team of programmers to hire to develop a custom tool with the above features, and many other features - such as navigation schemes and aids.
If anyone is interested, I shall be glad to begin as soon as possible.

On the edit page we find this in 1.4 beta 3

There is however no /style/wikibits.js in the beta 3 release, while in
the 1.3.8 the wikibits.js is found elsewhere, under the particular
stylesheet
I created /style folder and put there the 1.3.8 wikibits.js, but it
still does not work. Special permissions or what?

Hello mediawiki world
I'm still trying to fix the refreshLinks, to have a
reasonnable speed :)
It seems that when calling the parser we also call the render
and so in maintenance we render in html ALL the pages , just for
checking the links.
We only need to read once the text, extract WIKIMARKS and put
that in the right link table, but NOT render the html.
The parser (should be renamed parse&render ?) is very complicated
to understand, so i need help to find when the link stuff is done
and skip all the html stuff.
Thanks
Alain
hi all,
i have followed the mediwiki user guides and it is mentioned that
the script directories and the upload directories are in /w/,
whereas the rest is in /wiki/. how do i do it? i tried looking
for some documentation on this but found none. except for
http://www.linux-magazine.com/issue/42/Mediawiki.pdf under section
"hardening". but it seems a little dated. I shall be happy with
some pointers.
i use rewrite rules.
thanks,
saurav
My webserver crashed earlier this evening and when it came back, it's
complaining that I need to set $wgDBservers in DefaultSettings.php.
However, it's set, and set correctly. Database checks out OK with
mysqlcheck, I can't figure out where the breakdown is.
Anyrate, exact error at http://ursine.dyndns.org/ I'm a little stumped
on where to start even troubleshooting this.

just thinking aloud...
I would like to offer our editors both vertical and horizontal
categorisation scheme. The present categories should align themselves as
vertical structure up to the one Highest category, say, Index or
whatever else and continue using the present [[category:Anything]] tags.
They may point either only to the parent category, or in descending
order from the Highest down to the Parent.
Just beneath this line which is called now Categories, I visualize
another line, sayng "Related Categories" and using tags like
[[related:Anything]].
Is that real?
Best,
Plamen
Hello,
I'm really anxious to get Mediawiki working, so I'm really hoping
somebody can help me here (as an early Christmas present =)
Setup:
FreeBSD 5.3
MediaWiki 1.3.9
MySQL 4.1.7
PHP 4.1.10
Apache 1.3.x
When I fill out the initial config information at config/index.php (SQL
server info, sysop account info, etc.) and submit, I get nothing but a
blank screen. I'm not seeing any error messages in my SQL error log, so
I'm having difficulty troubleshooting this problem.
I have setup the wikidb database and created the wikiuser granting this
user full access. My MySQL 4.1 setup works for all of my other
databases, and I can login as this user via the command line (no error
messages visible, I do know that MySQL 4.1 presented some
authentication hiccups).
What is the best way to go about troubleshooting this? Is this problem
related to MySQL 4.1 or something else?
Thanks SO much in advance!

Hi all,
We're setting up a mediawiki installation and we'd like to disable the
User Talk feature or remove the namespace. Is there a clean way to
disable this via the config files?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Ben Durbin
