Hello,
I have a fresh install of wikimedia and having issues with giving sysop rights to users.
Following the Documentation, I recieve errors when trying to run the following command.
mysql> update user set user_rights='sysop' where user_name='jblain';
ERROR 1054: Unknown column 'user_rights' in 'field list'
Any help would be appreciated.
Debian unstable
MediaWiki 1.4beta3
MySQL 4.0.23
Thanks,
Jeff
My boss setup an MW for our team to use, and I'm hooked: I've used
several wikis in the past, and this is my favorite. I also have an OSS
project, also hosted on SourceForge, that is underdocumented. So I'd
like to setup an MW for my project ... but I note

This presents several problems for me (and the giant corp for which I
slave), mostly of the form "how do I allow an insecure connection
inside the firewall protecting the boxen to which I have access to
install stuff on?" OTTOMH this seems easiest to resolve by also
putting the database in my project's SF web space: as long as I back
it up regularly, the damage that can result from the insecurity is
limited. But I note

... does SF provide that? If not, how best to provide a backend
suitable for running an MW on SF? Can I just install MySQL in my
project's webspace?
Hi,
As newbie to wiki's, and MediaWiki, I am searching how to make words that
were linked once appear as links everytime someone enters them. I found
this feature in "VoodooPad", a notepad-like application based on wiki on
Mac OS X. For instance : A user marks the word "wiki" as internal link. Is
it afterwards possible to let MediaWiki mark every occurance of "wiki"
automatically, and point to the corresponding page ? Or is it necessary to
create every link manually ?

I recently installed MediaWiki 1.4beta3 on the NSwiki
(http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php). This was an upgrade from
MediaWiki 1.3.9. Although I'm overall quite pleased with the upgrade, I
have noticed that the ~~~~~ code used to give timestamps is not working
properly; instead, it is returning one's signature and timestamp followed
by a tilde (example: Rechze (talk) 12:35, 28 Dec 2004 (GMT)~). How do I
remedy this?
Thanks,
Goobergunch
On my system, I am not able to log in anew unless I set my ZoneAlarms
firewall cookie setting to its lowest point, in which it does not block any
cookies.
This seems to be a newer bug that was not in place when I first was using
the mediawiki program. I've not upgraded since installing back in June.
Planning upgrade in Jan. Will the upgrade address this bug?
I'm running on Windows XP (VGA setting due to monitor issue); IE6.0;
ZoneAlarm 5.5 with latest updates.

Hi everybody.
How can I add items to the navigation menu in the 1.4 version? I used to
know how to do it back in the 1.3.8, but the 1.4 doesn't use template.
Thanks in advance
Abel

Hi,
I managed to set up mediawiki with URL rewriting. But whenever I want to
upload an image, I just end up in the upload page itself and the image is
not uploaded. Without rewriting, everything works just fine.
Any hints?
