This doesnt mean that those works can be altered to make derogatory derivatives. In such a case those violations will be judged by the Prevention of Insults to National Honours Act of 1971, later amended somehere in 1992.
As per copyright act of 1957, even if you copyright your work, it will automatically go to PD right after completing 60yrs
