Hi Samir,
Although your mail had baseless allegations against the user group without
any references, but anyway, thanks for your reply. Please note that, this
is not an official reply from the user group, as the representative
committee, which is to be formed in very near future, may consider to
respond officially, if needed at all. This is my completely personal reply
as I have started the thread to inform the larger community.
The content of the bylaws are very disturbing. It sees like a executive
club purposely made to leave some people leave. The
Wikipedia culture is
quite open and this kind of policies is made by some people nd passed in a
small amount of window gives only bad vibes to the other Wiki community.
Accept my Condolences to all people who got thrown out of the user group
because some people decided to make all about "number of edits". As if
that is the only thing a member can contribute towards progress of
Wikimedia.
If you have read the bylaws carefully, you can see that the user group is
open to all Wikimedia account holders, who can become General members
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/West_Bengal_Wikimedians/Members/General>
just by signing up. No one is thrown out as you say. To become a
representative of the user group, a general member needs to pass some
criteria, which was set up after community consultation, because
representing user group in a forum is a serious affair. The user group
decided to take account of online editing for representative membership,
because a person who edits and work online with the community closely
understands the issues and dynamics of the community better than who
doesn't. No one objected to that when that article was raised for
discussion. Byt the way, what is the executive club anyway? Never heard of
it.
Even sad is people are congratulating instead of
expressing concerns over
the type of bullying done openly to Wikimedians of West Bengal. I am happy
thati left its nd I not there in it animore
Can you please refer where the bullying was done to Wikimedians of West
Bengal regarding the bylaws, where everyone congratulated in stead of
expressing concerns? We had opened up the draft for community consultation
for one month (see talk page
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Talk:West_Bengal_Wikimedians/Bylaws>) and
had online meetups for general members. I cant remember any bullying in any
discussion. I remember each and every user who participated in the
discussions, but there was no user named Samir or likewise. Maybe I am
having some memory loss again and others can help me remember better.
Sorry to hear that you are not there anymore, but you are not where? Can
you please specify. I have just checked the history of the general members
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=West_Bengal_Wikimedians/Members/General&offset=&limit=500&action=history>,
couldn't find anyone with user name Samir. May be you have a different user
name, but that I don't know.
It is to say that the editors working in wiki data are
not having any
knolej. And other of them are disqalified. This is nothing more than
hitlership and if they are going in this way, the User Group, then I am sad
for everyone who have to go through this harassment.
Where did you learn that the user group stated that the editors working in
Wikidata have no knowledge? Please cite that. Do you even know that one of
the main arena of work of the user group is to improve Wikidata entries of
different aspects of West Bengal. If you don't know that, consider
checking Wikidata:WikiProject
West Bengal <https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:WikiProject_West_Bengal>.
Anyway, please keep your false assumptions with you.
"Ache din aayenge", I guess inisited of goin further, we are only going in
back.
The bylaw was passed after community consultation and with full agreement
with the general members who attended the meetup regarding the bylaw.
Although you didn't take time to discuss when it was being done, but still
If you have any recommendation or suggestion or grievances, you are always
welcome to suggest that in the talk page of the bylaw, so that maybe,
Representative Committee can consider them, in future to move the user
group forward.
Your mail had baseless allegations against user group without any
references. Next time, please at least find some references and at least
provide your user name, so that everyone can understand your contribution
and motive. Otherwise dont expect a reply.
Regards
Bodhisattwa
