Hi all,
FYI, as some of you have expressed interest to provide inputs for Wikidata
movement resource but have missed the opportunity to do that while the
google doc for the needs assessment was open, we are going to arrange a
video call on 27th May, 2020 Wednesday at 10 am IST. The Google hangout
link is here -

Hi all,
Hope you and your loved ones are safe and sound during this ongoing
COVID-19 pandemic situation.
This is for your kind information that, from 22nd May, 2020 Friday to 24th
May, 2020 Sunday, a datathon will be happening on Indian scientists on
Wikidata. The lack of data about Indian scientists, their works and
publications on Wikidata is the reason behind conducting the datathon.
Considering the ongoing pandemic, the datathon will also focus on
scientists working on COVID-19 and SARS COV-2.
The tasklist of the datathon is flexible. Participants can choose their own
preferred task on this topic
More details at:

Hoping for your active participation,
Take care and stay safe,

Subject: [Wikiml-l] Needs assessment for Wikidata Movement Resource
Hello Wikimedians,
CIS-A2K is planning to invest some resources from May-June 2020 to create community movement resource (CMR) materials in English and different Indic languages for Wikidata in the form of tutorials, handbooks, infographics, videos, animations etc. The aim of this initiative is to build a pool of resource materials for Wikidata eventually, which will serve as ready-made handy references for new as well as experienced users. You are requested to fill up this form <https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfqSEoYLfjlIgDLOTlkDcLF9xDlHYfgkJI…> so that we can understand your needs on different topics of Wikidata. You are also very welcome to actively participate in the process and help us build the CMR with your different areas of expertise.
Thanks and Regards,

Hi everyone,
Hope you are all doing well and are safe amidst the ongoing COVID-19
Pandemic. On behalf of the Strategy Team [2] and the working group members
[3], I would like to take a moment with you to celebrate the publication of
the 2030 movement strategy recommendations, now live on Meta-wiki [1] and
express gratitude and appreciation for your efforts to share perspectives
into our process. Over the last two years, our movement has worked
tirelessly to produce these ideas to change our shared future. Many of you
participated in the online conversations, hosted strategy salons, attended
regional events, and connected with us in-person at Wikimania. These
contributions were invaluable, and will help make our movement stronger for
years to come.
The finished set of 10 recommendations emphasizes many of our core values,
such as equity, innovation, safety, and coordination, while tasking us
jointly to turn this vision into a reality. These recommendations clarify
and refine the previous version, which was published in January this year.
They are at a high strategic level so that the ideas are flexible enough to
be adapted to different global and local settings and will allow us to
navigate future challenges. Along with the recommendations, we have
outlined 10 underlying principles, a narrative of change, and a glossary of
key terms for better context. [5] [6] [7]
The recommendations are available in numerous languages, including Arabic,
German, Hindi, English, French, Portuguese, and Spanish for you to read and
share widely. We encourage you to read the recommendations in your own time
and at your own pace, either online [1] or in a PDF [4]. There are a couple
of other formats for you to take a deeper dive if you wish, such as a
one-page summary, slides, and office hours, all collected on Meta. If you
would like to comment, you are welcome to do so on the Meta talk pages.
However, please note that these are the final version of the
recommendations. No further edits will be made. This final version of the
recommendations embodies an aspiration for how the Wikimedia movement
should continue to change in order to advance that direction and meet the
Wikimedia vision in a changing world. You can also learn more about the
changes made in the Recommendations from the January 2020 iteration from
our Change Log Report.[8]
In terms of next steps, our focus now shifts toward implementation. In
light of the cancellation of the Wikimedia Summit, the Wikimedia Foundation
is determining the best steps for moving forward through a series of
virtual events over the coming months. We will also be hosting live office
hours [9] in the next week, where you can join us to celebrate the Strategy
and ask questions! Please stay tuned, and thank you once again for helping
to drive our movement forward, together.
With thanks,
Rupika

find new ground to share our ideas.
This is at once a collaborative and distributed event. Sessions are
hosted by individuals and organizations around the world as panel
discussions, fireside chats, demonstrations, and performances. We
connect those points to bring them in conversation with one another
and map out what’s next.
We seek to build networks of resilience and care for people working on
new ways to develop and share knowledge.
Join us by proposing a session. Proposals will be considered on a
rolling basis up to and throughout the fest.
