Hi everyone,
I am excited to share with all of you that User:Varinder Naturaphile
previously known as User:ਵਰਿੰਦਰ ਸ਼ਰਮਾ has officially launched Wiki Loves
Wild Flowers today, 22 May 2019 which is the International Day for
Biological Diversity.[1]
Varinder is a member of the Faridkot District Biodiversity Committee and a
Coordinator for documentation of flora and fauna. I am glad that his
expertise will help in including quality content on our platforms. This
will range from adding images to Commons to add local names in Wikidata and
possibly create new Wikipedia articles.
Over the next few months, he will be working on the initial list of 124
different species of wild flowers found in the Punjab region as a pilot.
Your feedback will be deeply appreciated.

Subject: Loss of a Wikipedia portal... Portal: Goa
To: Wikipedia mailing list <wikipedia-l(a)lists.wikimedia.org>
We are a small Wikipedia community, struggling to make things work out of
Goa (India). To my dismay, some editor has gone ahead in deleting the Goa
Portal which we have set up for long (on grounds that it has not been
updated). We were in fact trying to update it:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portal:Goa/
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portal:Goa/Things_you_can_do>
Instead, would it not be better to help us to keep this portal going and
build it? Rather disappointed. FN

Dear All
During Wiki Advanced Training in June 2018 in Ranchi, the participants thought of a common platform to cater to various needs of Indian communities, which may be a platform to discuss things concerning multiple communities or tech needs, among several others. In Ranchi, it was decided to include space for general discussion and technical support.
Meanwhile, the idea of the portal was under the formulation; in the subsequent the events such as Wikigraphists Bootcamp, TWLCon (2019 India) etc. new suggestions came to include the
tabs pertaining to graphics and resource exchange. After Indic Wikisource Community Consultation 2018, "Indic wiki source Help Page" was started and we already know Jay is doing an amazing job with the "Indic TechCom" for the tech needs. Though the latter two have been created individually, we have linked it from this portal, and bring all of them under one umbrella.
The portal is now ready with necessary pages, and it has been titled “Indic Wikimedia Portal”.
Link: https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Indic_Wikimedia_Portal
Please go through the tabs, and post any questions you may have to the talk page. This has been a long-standing need, it would only be successful if all use it proactively, and also encourage our community members to do the same.
This is just a start, and if you feel there is a need for the page on a new theme, you are welcome to start a discussion regarding the same. Eventually, it can become a one-stop point for various needs of Indian communities.
Thanks and regards,
Jinoy, Krishna, Manavpreet, and Sushant.

Dear Indian Wikimedians,
I had sent this mail earlier also and was expecting some comments on it.
Somehow not a single person has replied to this mail.
We talk so much on the list on many insignificant things. Many times WMF
people also add their comments/views in it. But for such an important
topic, that too of national interest, there is complete silence !! I am
surprised and saddened.
This was the original mail I sent on April 12th.

Please check out this news from WMF.
https://wikimediafoundation.org/2019/04/11/a-german-court-forced-us-to-remo…
This means WMF accepts court rulings across the world and take action
accordingly. What can happen in the case of India maps? Your views please.
Regards
