Hello,
We want to give you an update related to Wikimedia Wikimeet India 2022.
Wikimedia Wikimeet India 2022 (or WMWM2022) was to be conducted on 18 to 20
February 2022, and is postponed now.
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Wikimeet_India_2022
Currently we are seeing a new wave of the pandemic that is affecting many
people around. Although WMWM is an online event, it has multiple
preparation components such as submission, registration, RfC etc which
require community involvements.
We feel this may not be the best time for extensive community engagement.
We have also received similar requests from Wikimedians around us.
Following this observation, please note that we are postponing the event,
and the new dates will be informed on the mailing list and on the event
page.
Although the main WMWM is postponed, we may conduct a couple of brief
calls/meets (similar to Stay Safe Stay Connected call) on the mentioned
date, if things go well.
We'll also get back to you about updates related to WMWM once the situation
is better.
Stay safe,
Jayanta Nath

Namaskara,
This might be some food for thought, and inputs are welcome. India mailing
list is the largest and most widely used Wikimedia mailing list for the
Indian community. Could we have a practice that all grant requests from the
country (or related to) are informed on the Wikimediaindia-l mailing list?
Whether it is a state-level, project-level, language-level etc, or whether
it is a rapid grant, project grant etc it would be good to see the plan
details on this mailing list in advance. It will ensure greater visibility,
and it will also ensure the community's understanding/knowing of each
other's projects.
If we can have a practice like this, we can inform Wikimedia, or CR team or
relevant support structure(s) as an India community practice.
This post is in my personal capacity. Please assume good faith

Hi all,
Happy New Year to you all!
We are happy to inform you all that the West Bengal Wikimedians User Group
has been announced as a partner of Wikidocumentaries project along with
different open knowledge organisations, GLAM institutes and academic
institutions of Finland. Wikidocumentaries, as you might know, is a project
by Open Knowledge Finland, which combines different aspects of a topic from
different platforms including Wikipedia, Wikidata, Wikimedia Commons,
FlickR, Europeana, OSM etc. into one place and provides a comprehensive
display of knowledge to the readers. The link of the website is here -
https://wikidocumentaries-demo.wmflabs.org
You may have noticed earlier, that the West Bengal Wikimedians User Group
has engaged with the Wikidocumentaries project for more than 2 years now.
The tables listing monuments in Wiki Loves Monuments in India competition
have been providing a Wikidocumentaries links for each monuments for the
last 2 years, using which photographers can upload photographs from that
website directly into the competition. Bengali Wikisource has also provided
Wikidocumentaries links in different namespaces for more than a year now.
Wiki Loves Butterfly has very recently started to provide their links too
in their tables of butterflies.
WikidataCon 2021 also had a presentation showcasing the above
collaborations and some idea-level ambitious discussions to integrate in
more potential areas in near future. Hope this year, our partnership will
start bringing those ideas to reality.

Bodhisattwa
