https://instazoom.mobi/tr/ - As the popular saying goes, a picture is worth a thousand words. And in the age of social media, pictures have become even more important. With platforms like Instagram, pictures have become a way to communicate and share our lives with others.
But one of the frustrating things about Instagram is that you can't view profile pictures unless you're logged in. This can be a problem if you want to get a closer look at someone's picture or if you're trying to find someone's account.
That's where Instazoom comes in. Instazoom is an online tool that allows you to easily enlarge Instagram profile pictures. With just a few clicks, you can see any profile picture in full resolution without having to login.
Dear all,
Hope you are well and safe.
I am thrilled to reach out to you on behalf of the Communications
Department at The Wikimedia Foundation to share information about a new
short-term test campaign through which we hope to learn more about engaging
Indian digital audiences, primarily the youth.
Emerging from the Medium Term Plan
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Foundation_Medium-term_plan_2019>,
this test is aimed at strengthening the awareness levels of Wikimedia, our
free knowledge mission, and growing affinity with our readers in India,
especially the youth.
Firstly, let us introduce ourselves- The Communications Department.
Communications <https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Communications> is a Wikimedia
Foundation
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:MyLanguage/Wikimedia_Foundation>
department. The Communications Department performs a variety of functions
for the Foundation, such as building awareness of Wikimedia and its
projects, maintaining relationships with the media, producing content for
the Wikimedia Foundation website
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:MyLanguage/Wikimedia_Foundation_web…>,
managing the community blog Diff <https://diff.wikimedia.org/> and
Wikimedia social media
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:MyLanguage/Social_media>
platforms, facilitating communications with Wikimedia communities,
informing research into emerging global audiences, developing creative
materials, and coordinating campaigns to engage new audiences for Wikimedia
projects like Project Rewrite
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Communications/Project_Rewrite>and Wiki
Unseen. <https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Communications/Wiki_Unseen>
What is #KnowWithWiki all about?
This is a truly integrated effort where members of various teams within the
Foundation came together to develop a plan to engage young readers in India
in a manner that demonstrates the value of Wikipedia, highlighting the role
it already plays in helping them know their world better and promoting free
knowledge.
The problem: Wikipedia readership in India is high. It is currently ranked
#4 in website traffic in India with an average of approximately 2 pages a
visit. Unfortunately, according to a market research
<https://docs.google.com/document/d/1QHwaKUKJqxuzmfNx55KFlA-CBYPAKzMWmYP5heu…>
carried out by the Wikimedia Foundation in 2020, only 31% of the Indian
internet users have heard of Wikipedia, and strikingly, only 26% of
internet users aged 18-24 years were aware of Wikipedia. The gap between
usage and awareness indicates that there is a large number of young people
who use Wikipedia and are not aware of us and therefore have no affinity or
value for it.
Why India?
Engaging young internet users and unaware Wikipedia readers to increase
affinity and perceived value is key to the sustained growth of Wikipedia
and all our projects. The Indian youth may be viewing or using our content
through different platforms e.g. seeing Wikipedia content through search
engines, but there is a lack of awareness among this audience that this
information comes from the efforts of our diverse volunteer community that
spends time and effort in curating relevant and reliable information on
Wikipedia and its sister projects.
We wish to engage with this very audience by providing them more relatable
examples on how Wikipedia plays/can play an active role in their efforts to
gather fact-based, researched information around worldly topics.
Furthermore, by capturing and studying data emerging from this test, we
will be able to learn, assess and improve our future engagements in the
country
Our Plan
Starting May 2022, we will be engaging Indian influencers under a
campaign #KnowWithWiki
& “Know Your World Better”
For this activity, we are collaborating with selected popular GenZ
influencers to showcase the relevance of Wikipedia among the younger Indian
audience in their daily lives. The primary platform of activation will be
on Instagram, which is a platform that has the highest number of users from
India, and has emerged as the most preferred social media platform2 among
Indian youth according to a 2020 study3. Instagram influencers will
highlight use of Wikipedia in their posts on topical content and social
awareness topics.
These influencers will release their own content on their Instagram handles
covering topics relevant to our target audience, while seeding references
of Wikipedia and the vast knowledge available on the online encyclopedia.
This will be complemented with our own social media channels sharing
content around the experiment, focussed towards the Indian audience. The
general public would be encouraged to follow and participate in the
campaign online using #KnowWithWiki.
Why are we doing this?
This activity follows the the successful completion of a similar activity
in South Africa- #WikipediabyUs, where we collaborated with South Africa’s
young creative community by giving them a platform to create informative
content based on Wikipedia articles. #WikipediabyUs, demonstrated young
creatives using Wikipedia to expand a topic of interest with their
audiences.
It is a part of our sustained endeavor to make deeper strides in learning
from different contexts on improving understanding of the Wikimedia
movement and its projects. We want to raise awareness about how Wikipedia
and the free knowledge movement is present in the daily lives of Indian
audiences.
This test would also enable us to tackle some of the misconceptions around
Wikipedia in the Indian digital space, via explaining how the Wikipedia
volunteer community creates and improves content on the platform based on
up-to-date, relevant and verifiable sources.
By engaging the 18-24 age group we aim to-
-
GET GenZ adults aged 18-24
-
WHO read Wikipedia
-
TO see Wikipedia as relevant
-
BY showing them how often they call on us to know and do more
How can you get involved?
You can create your own content on social media to describe how you use
Wikipedia in your everyday life to know your world and the things that
interest you better. Make sure you use #KnowWithWiki and #Wikipedia to add
to the campaign impact!
If you would like to know more and get involved or share any suggestions,
please reach out to me by email.
Thank you warmly for your time and interest.
On behalf of the Core Team- Khanyi, Mathoto, Olga, Rachit and Vidhu.

Dear Indian Wikimedians,
As many of you may have known, one of our fellow Wikimedian was arrested by
Uttar Pradesh Police in October 2020. His name is Siddique Kappan (His
wikimedia username is User:Sidheeq). He is from Kerala, and he was active
in Wikimedia projects (mainly in Malayalam Wikipedia) until his arrest.
Incidently he is a journalist and he was arrested from the home of Hathras
rape and murder victim while reporting the victim Dalit girl's family
members. UP Police has slapped Sedition, Terrorism as well as UAPA charges
against him.
Kappen is diabetic and now COVID positive. He was admitted to hospital only
after he collapsed in the jail cell. With his deteriorating health, it was
accused that Kappan was chained to hospital bed like an animal. Today's
news reports say that he is in critical condition. (You could always google
"Siddique Kappan")
As a tone deaf people I don't expect anything from this mail, I just wish
to share the information.
Stay Inside, Stay Complementary (non-critical), Stay safe, Stay healthy.

Greetings Wikimedians,
This email is a reminder that today is the last day to fill out the survey
form[1]. As of today, we have received 43 responses to the form, which will
be used to create a report for the grant proposal application. Although
today is the last date to fill out the survey form, we will be accepting
responses from members who are interested in joining the organizing team.
We also request you to go through the Meta-Wiki page[2] created for initial
conversations and endorsements to support if you are happy with the idea of
having the next WikiConference India in 2023.
Please note that we will be using the budget from the previous grant
proposal used for planning WCI 2020[3] and adjust the costs according to
the current situation. We will also be sharing the draft of the grant
proposal with you all shortly.
Looking forward to hearing from you and taking collective steps towards
having us all together in 2023!
Thanks & Regards,
Nivas, Nitesh & Neechalkaran

Hello Wikimedians!
We are excited to announce that the West Bengal Wikimedians User Group
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/West_Bengal_Wikimedians> is going to
organize Wiki Loves Monuments in India
<https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Wiki_Loves_Monuments_2022_in_Ind…>
this year again during the entire month of September for the 5th
consecutive time. We have a list of news to share.
- This year, we have Amitabha Gupta
<https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:Amitabha_Gupta> as a new member
in our organizing team
<https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Wiki_Loves_Monuments_2022_in_Ind…>.
He will be replacing Sumit Surai
<https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:Sumitsurai>, who will be busy
in his personal life during the competition and so, will not be able to
volunteer as an organizer. The rest of the team remains the same as last
year. The team members had their preparatory meeting and distributed the
responsibilities last weekend.
- Like previous years, we are interested in adding more and more data
about Indian monuments, both designated and non-designated ones, on
Wikidata because the WLM lists of monuments
<https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Wiki_Loves_Monuments_in_India/Mo…>
are fetched directly from there. If you find monuments from your locality
or district or state that are present on Wikidata but are not
reflected on our
list
<https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Wiki_Loves_Monuments_in_India/Mo…>,
please let me know, so that we can include them for the competition.
- This year, the tables of monuments will look different from the last
years. The co-ordinates will be displayed as dynamic maps and the districts
where the monuments will be located will have their locator images, if
available. An example of such a table is here
<https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Wiki_Loves_Monuments_in_India/Mo…>.
However, many monuments still lack coordinates and you can help to add them
on respective Wikidata items.
- Unlike previous years, we are looking for Indian-only jury members
both inside and outside of the Wikimedia movement with experience in
documentary photography of monuments and heritage structures. We have felt
that this decision might bring less known Indian monuments in the
limelight. The jury members will be declared during the event,
- The national prizes will be slightly different from the previous year.
Details can be found here
<https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Wiki_Loves_Monuments_2022_in_Ind…>
.
- We have temporarily closed the feature to upload photographs directly
from Wikidocumentaries until further notice as the site is undergoing major
maintenance.
We will be sharing more updates and news in the coming days related to the
event.
In the meantime, make your plans and get ready with your photographic
equipment.

Dear Wikimedians,
Hope all of you are doing well. We are writing this email to restart the
conversation to host the next WikiConference India.
As you may remember, some of our fellow Wikimedians started a conversation
regarding the next WCI in 2020 but due to the unexpected COVID-19 pandemic,
it couldn't go on stage. However, we are hoping to reinitiate this
discussion and for that, we need your involvement, suggestions, and support
to help organize a much-needed conference in February-March of 2023.
As you may remember, we have had two national-level conferences in India — the
first one in Mumbai in 2011[1], and the second one in Chandigarh in
2016[2]. Both the conferences had been effective in bringing diverse Indian
communities together for a collective effort. The cross-community
connections made during these conferences led to many collaborations across
the communities and further strengthens our work as a collective movement.
The Community Resources team at the Wikimedia Foundation published Global
Event Strategy[3] which stressed on more and regular regional conferences,
in 2022 conferences are being organized in other regions such as WikiIndaba,
CEE Meeting, North America, Iberocoop, Francophone convention, Wikiarabia,
ESEAP, etc. As a community, it is crucial to have a national
inter-community gathering annually or at least bi-annually. However, we
only had a single conference in the past six years.
The proposed 2023 conference will bring our energies, ideas, learnings, and
hopes together. It will help us in our journey towards better
collaborations, and diversified efforts and reinforce our identity as the
Indian Wikimedia community. This conference will enable us to have better
knowledge about current capacities, and gaps and also to build equitable
leadership. Apart from all these, providing a national-level platform for
Indian Wikimedians to connect, re-connect, and establish their
collaboration itself can be an essential purpose on its own- in the end, it
will empower us all to strategize, plan ahead and collaborate- as a
movement.
We hope we, the Indian Wikimedia Community members, come together in
various capacities and make this a reality. We believe we will take
learnings from earlier attempts, improve processes & use best practices in
conducting this conference purposefully and fruitfully.
Here is a survey form[4] to get your responses on the same notion. We would
like to know if you are interested in participating in a national-level
conference where we can meet and plan our next activities, and purposes,
learn new skills, come to know new ideas, and so on. We can proceed further
only when you respond to us, actively.
Please note: Unfortunately we are working with short timelines since the final
date of proposal submission is 5 September. We request you please fill out
the form by 28th August. After your responses, we can decide if we have the
communities' needs and support for the conference. We plan to reuse the
2020 proposal[5] and remodel it according to the current needs of the
community.
Please note that this organizing is not tied to a single community, we have
formed an initial group of volunteers from different language and technical
communities. For a national conference, we will of course be needing more
volunteers and support. The form linked above has a section to join the
organizing team if you are interested. We have created a Meta-Wiki page[6]
for initial conversations and endorsements to support if you are happy with
the idea of having the next WikiConference India in 2023. Please add your
comments and suggestions to the talk page[7] directly which will be
constantly monitored and updated once every 48 hours.
Look forward to hearing from you and also taking some collective steps
towards having us all together in 2023!

Nivas, Nitesh, Neechalkaran & Vasanth
