When attempting to rename a page a recentchanges entry will be created and I'll end on a completly empty web page; Apache's error.log will contain the following error:
[Mon May 15 17:23:14 2006] [error] [client 194.74.144.146] PHP Fatal error: Call to a member function insertOn() on a non-object in [...]/includes/Title.php on line 1874, referer: http://www.linux-mips.org/wiki/Special:Movepage/SB_SOC
Any ideas, suggestions what might be going wrong here?

So I found the cause, a scrambled database. The "SB_SOC" article itself was ok but it's discussion page was refering to a non-existing revision table entry. After removing the discussion page everything ok again.
I guess Mediawiki could use some moral equivalent of fsck beyond what the maintenance scripts already provide ...
