Hi,
Unfortunately the requirement is to use Oracle and not mySql. When I installed php downloaded from php page then I atleast got the page that was letting me provide the configuration information. But with Zend core the setup page just says that it cant find a suitable driver (as shown below). Is there anyway to get around this?
Thanks Rajesh

Hi Rajesh
MySQL is recommended for mediawiki over other databases, which use is undocummented
check the http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Help:Installation#Prerequisite
good luck

Hi All,
I am trying to setup wikimedia on windows using oracle database. I
installed apache 2.0.58 and then installed
zend core for oracle (zend core engine version 2.0.5 / php version 5.0.5).
I can connect to oracle using
a test php program so that part is working fine.
Now I downloaded Wikimedia and unzipped to apache/htdocs. When I try to
run the setup all I am getting is
the message below.
MediaWiki 1.7.1 Installation Don't forget security updates! Keep an eye on the low-traffic release
announcements mailing list.
Checking environment... Please include all of the lines below when reporting installation
problems.
PHP 5.0.5 installed Could not find a suitable database driver! For MySQL, compile PHP using --with-mysql, or install the mysql.somodule For PostgreSQL, compile PHP using --with-pgsql, or install the pgsql.somodule
What am I missing? Should I install mySql to make this work? Any
information will be of great help.
Thanks Rajesh

Sorry, but your requirements are inherently foolish. In the real world, people use the proper tools for the job.
You could fix up and maintain the Oracle support yourself, or you could pay someone money to do it, but I warn you these would be wasted time and wasted money.
Instead, I would recommend that you either use the proper tools for the job (as any sensible person would) or use different software which supports your IT department's arbitrary requirements.
Please do not post a fourth message asking how to "work around" this; there is no workaround. MediaWiki does not support Oracle at this time, and there is no way to "work around" it.

Hi folks,
Is there any way to rename tables? I made a bad design choice and I want to correct things. I could not find any reference to such issue on MediaWiki documentation, but I might have let it slip... I´ve posted this question a first time few days ago, but nobody answered. I infer there is no such possibility as renaming tables, but I would like to have at least a "no way" answer, so I can move on, please.
Thank you very much and best regards,

This is absolute lie. I answered you. In subject. Where you asked your question.

SQL command: RENAME TABLE, then just change table prefix in LocalSettings
