Hello all!
I want to expand the search to an further table I created. This second table contains a fulltext index from attachments like pdf, doc and so on.
Where I've to start to set up a hook that expands the search query? Anonther idea is to build a hook that runs an extra query on the new table and just add the results to the resultset of the mediawiki search, so I don't have to care how to display the results.
Thanks a lot! Alex
I'm looking for a way to extend the User Preferences special page and can't really find any existing extensions or samples out there.
I want to add a couple of new user options, preferably under "Misc." but, can't figure out how.
I know, that as a last resort, I can modify SpecialPreferences.php but would I would prefer to not modify the core and implement what I want to do as an extension.
Any help would be most appreciated
Thanks
Kimon
If you are looking for an extension that does this, take a look at http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:FCKeditor
When you look at installation instructions, it will tell you to modify a couple of MediaWiki files - this is probably not needed if you just want to check out preferences. Just install the extension by putting it in extensions/ directory and adding the necessary line to LocalSettings.php as per instructions.

Thanks Marko but, I don't see where the user preferences get extended. I must definitely be missing something.

Under Misc tab, you should see a few "Disable rich editor within the xxx namespace" checkboxes.

D'oh!
Can't believe I missed it, thanks!
I ended up using the 'UserToggles' hook as I just wanted the user to be able to set/unset whether an extension is available to them or not.
But, I will be using that extension for when I want more complex preferences.
