edit buttons for lists or indenting? - MediaWiki-l

New subject: [Mediawiki-l] edit buttons for lists or indenting?

Just to clarify - as can be seen from another thread, I know how to make a button prepend * or #. I'd like for the button to put the li tags on every line of a multiline selection. Looking at the code in wikibits.js for how the custom buttons work, it looks like that isn't possible via mwCustomEditButtons, since pulling the selection is done in function insertTags(tagOpen, tagClose, sampleText) { Am I reading things correctly? If so, then it seems like wikibits.js could be modified so that insertTags could take some additional parameters to do other things to a block of selected text. With my limited understanding of JavaScript, I don't know ... can one overload a function in wikibits.js by writing a new version into common.js? Hi Katharina, I need to look at WikiEd, but I'm trying to avoid the pseudo-WYSIWYG editors (or at least provide an alternative to them). FCKEditor has the kind of button I want too. My experience with FCK is that what you get is messed up enough that you lose more than you gain - IMO, the semi-WYSIWYG hides important information about templates and extensions that you get to see with preview. Others clearly disagree. From the extension page, it sounds like WikiEd has, at minimum, browser-dependence issues. But perhaps I can look at their js and reuse some of it!
