I installed MediaWiki 1.11.0 and now I receive a MySQL error when I go to some pages. The error is as follows. -
Database errorA database query syntax error has occurred. This may indicate a bug in the software. The last attempted database query was:
(SQL query hidden)
from within function "LocalFile::loadFromDB". MySQL returned error "1054: Unknown column 'img_sha1' in 'field list' (sql4.byethost7.com)".

You're missing a column. When upgrading, you *must* remember to run maintenance/update.php to check and upgrade the database schema and perform any additional updates.
See http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:Upgrading_to_1.11.

I ran the update maintenance script twice and the install script once, and I still receive the error.

This might be a silly idea, but... are you completely sure you're running the 1.11.0 maintenance script, and not the one from your previous MediaWiki install?
I made that mistake. I was in the wrong folder when I ran update.php....

Yes, I am completely sure I am running the correct update script. Does anybody have any clue which table might be causing this problem?

Hello,
I have recently migrated a MW install from Windows to Linux, and I'm having some trouble getting system-generated emails to work. First some versions:
Ubuntu Linux 7.04 (I have root access) MediaWiki 1.11.0 Apache 2.2.3 PHP 5.2.1 Sendmail 8.13.8 MySQL 5.0.38
Everything else is working... file uploads, ImageMagick, texvc, short URLs, ParserFunctions, CharInsert, maintenance scripts, all working fine.
When I try to generate a system email by clicking "Email password", for example, the page responds successfully, saying the email was sent. However, the message is never received, and I found the following error message in /var/log/mail.log:
Sep 17 11:11:52 justin-ubuntu sendmail[11580]: l8HFBqnM011580: from=www-data, size=649, class=0, nrcpts=1, msgid=200709171511.l8HFBqnM011580@justin-ubuntu.d2systems, relay=www-data@localhost Sep 17 11:11:56 justin-ubuntu sendmail[11580]: l8HFBqnM011580: to=Jmorgan jmorgan@d2hawkeye.com, ctladdr=www-data (33/33), delay=00:00:04, xdelay=00:00:04, mailer=relay, pri=30649, relay=[127.0.0.1] [127.0.0.1], dsn=4.0.0, stat=Deferred: Connection timed out with [127.0.0.1]
MW appears to be generating the email and sending it off to Sendmail, but Sendmail is not processing it correctly. From the console, I tried sending an email manually via the SMTP interface:

What is happening differently with the mail triggered from MW? I am admittedly new to Sendmail, and the configuration files look very daunting.
Any help?
Thanks, -Justin

Figured it out. It was an iptables problem (argh). I had TCP port 25 open to localhost, and that worked for telnet mail generation, but apparently that's not good enough for PHP mail(). Opening the entire loopback interface did the trick:
sudo iptables -A INPUT -s 127.0.0.1 -j ACCEPT
Thanks for your help. =)

I think if you search the archives you will find information on setting up email on your server. If I remember right something about using curl.

No, the PHP mail() function causes the same error in the mail.log file. Curiously, the mail() function reports no errors, though:

Can you send a simple PHP email?

Hello,
I have recently migrated a MW install from Windows to Linux, and I'm having some trouble getting system-generated emails to work.

I am getting the same error on our Japanese version (http://mike2.openmethodology.org/ja/index.php/Main_Page) when I access the main page with the original name of the page after the upgrade (http://mike2.openmethodology.org/ja/index.php/%E3%83%A1%E3%82%A4%E3%83%B3%E3...)
I had to change the name to English, but now it seems ok. I am not able to reproduce the error any other way, so it seems to be fine now, but I am interested to find the root cause for it...
Thanks, Andreas

Yes, I am completely sure I am running the correct update script. Does anybody have any clue which table might be causing this problem?

This might be a silly idea, but... are you completely sure you're running the 1.11.0 maintenance script, and not the one from your previous MediaWiki install?
I made that mistake. I was in the wrong folder when I ran update.php....
