@Thomas Thank you for reply...but my aim is to make a
hierarchy of
groups in which one is manager group and i have more than 40
department's manager in that group. To restrict rights in each other
departments i want to know that is it possible to make only one group
of name "manager" and have 40 members those are head of each
department.
name space will not be able to restrict rights properly. can you
suggest something else
You can have users in multiple groups. Would it solve your problem to have
the "manager" group have only the rights that everyone in that group should
have, and then put each member in a different group according to their
department? For example, the "manager" group could have "read"
permissions
everywhere, and the "Department 1" group would have specific "edit"
rights
that the "Department 2" group did not. Users can exist in both the
"manager" group and "Department 1" group at the same time, and have
the
rights assigned to them by both.
Something to be aware of is that if a right is explicity denied to one group
a user is a part of but enabled for another of that user's groups, the user
has that right (true overrules false).
